Best Dame trade I can figure, is sending him to the Suns for Ayton. Ayton has 3 years left, is young, he'd fill a need, and a top 10 player at his position. If you trade Dame to a contender for picks, you probably end up with a lot of late 1sts.

Dame would be happy to go to Phoenix, and Phoenix is in win now mode and is having a falling out with Ayton.

Woof. For one, totally disagree drafting Scoot means Dame is gone. Scoot has already said he would love to be mentored by Dame and Dame may actually like that opportunity as long as other moves are still made to bring in veterans like DeRozen or LaVine level guys.

And Dame for Ayton... barf.

That would be due to Dame demanding a trade, not due to what Scoot wants. I'm only basing that of statements Dame made.

I'd rather get Ayton for Dame that lose Dame for nothing. Scoot/Sharpe/Ayton would at least make a fun core, even if we don't win for awhile.

Scoot just wants to be picked second/third.

Today's workout as well as Miller's June 10 workout in Charlotte will decide who goes 2/3

4 + Smith for Dame is good value, but Houston isn't doing that - whether or not they get Harden. It's just not ideal for them either way. If they want to make that trade because Harden is coming, they're probably sending out Jalen Green. Not Smith.

But again I just see no way Houston ever does that for a myriad of reasons.

Getting multiple draft picks from a good team is a bit over-rated in my view. 4 picks in the 20s, you're likely to land 1 player that can even stick with a team. Your chance of significantly improving with those are pretty slim.

That decision is already made. These workouts are largely formalities.

Charlotte has been known to place a high emphasis on the individual workouts.

Let's say Miller and Scoot have a great workout in Charlotte. They like Portland both feel Miller is a
better for them but both players seemed to have separated themselves from the player picked at 4
(Amen) who many think has a broken shot, much like MKG.

All Portland has to do is pick the guy who is left on the board. They'd be nuts to trade down unless
they can get Mikal Bridges or another AS level player that is not in the last year of their deal. They
can certainly use another good player that will be under control throughout his first five years in
the league on a rookie contract.

I'd worry about how this guy fits after he's picked by Portland

Well maybe Schmitz has his own board and will pick whomever HE has graded out the best at the number they are picking at? Maybe he has his eyes on somebody a bit off the grid?

That's a recipe for disaster for historically, every team with a top 3 pick sees what everyone sees both on
film and in the workouts. There are few surprises at the top for Houston at 4 will be racing to the podium
if Portland drafts strictly for need and reaches for lets say Dereck Lively.

Portland did that in 1971 when they drafted Larue Martin, 1983 (Bowie), etc

Schmitz does not have the final say for presumably that falls on Cronin who is the GM

Well I never said they will draft for need, quite the contrary they will draft the player they as a braintrust which would be (assuming) Schmitz, Cronin for sure and probably Billups. I'm assuming it's not finalized until all workouts and interviews are done.

I think portland is really hoping Miller falls to 3 but won't say so publicly. As much as I'd prefer to draft Miller or Scoot over trading 3 it wouldn't shock me if Scoot falling means 1) the pick instantly becomes more valuable to other teams and 2) Portland capitalizes on that value for win now talent

Does this make us a legit contender? If so why would Toronto want to give them away? Why did they fire the coach? No way in hell I would do that

I don’t like it at all from blazers end. I personally consider Shaedon and the 3rd pick both of debatably more value than this, combining them and just giving away ant in the process.. idk. I’d go 3rd and ant, that’s more than fair if Toronto needs to reset

Portland is going to pay Dame $220/4 Million and taking on the extensions for OG/Siakum
as well is just nuts.

raptors need a superstar. Can’t get one without gutting the roster. Scoot and miller can be that. They fired the coach because he didn’t want to be part of a rebuild and did it to let him out of his deal and still get paid for the final year as a courtesy.
Portland would have two all nba players an all defense wing and one of the most versatile forwards in the league with grant. They can trade a 2026 pick and their mle to add shooting and a center. That stacks up with everyone.

If we assume that we bring back Grant and Thybulle and want to give Sharpe 26-28 minutes at SG, that leaves only time for one other high level starter at SG, SF or PF. I can see a case for Siakam slotting in at PF but his ending contract scares me and he doesn't seem to be worth anywhere close to the 3 given that fact. I love OG but if we were to have him we'd have to continue with Grant at PF and that leaves us a bit undersized. Again there is the issue with his ending contract and impending free-agency.

I can see the case for one of these guys, but not at the cost of the 3 or Sharpe. Definitely not both.

We need to spend our assets on a center upgrade or a PF that allows us to move Grant to SF.

I still am hoping Portland lets Grant walk.

Portland like Charlotte really are in the cat bird's seat with Scoot/Miller on the board for
them. They could entertain a trade down but not for guys in the last years of their deals,
but both teams will have a player that is better than the guys who will be picked after 3.

It's really easy for Portland for they either will get the player that is the best fit for them
(Miller) or the second best player on the board in Scoot.

Drafting one of these guys along with the drafting of Sharpe last year, helps Portland afford
to pay Dame his extension for both Sharpe and pick 3 will be under their rookie deals and
neither player will be getting those $30 million extensions until after Dame's deal ends.

total speculation from an Orlando fan:

Yikes!!...if the Blazers can trade Ant for #6 + # 11 + Harris + Anthony, they need to do it yesterday, maybe sooner. Ask for Bol Bol instead of Anthony?

the options this would open up are kind of mind-boggling. Of course, my mind is usually boggled anyway

(and yeah, I know Orlando very likely wouldn't do this, but it did come from an Orlando fan)
