The kinda “ties” Drake has ie/ hooking up with his mom despite being a huge rapper that likely sleeps with thousands of women, aren’t usually the kinda “ties” you look at as a favourable one lol
I’m gonna say almost zero chance we take Bailey unless we bought a 2nd rounder.

You guys think one of the best drafting teams in the last decade is letting Drake influence the pick![]()
I don't see why Miller is such a downer for people here, but I get that people are starting to dig in their heels now. I have as well. To me he does a lot of bankable things (rebound, motor, interior touch) and then there's some size to skill appeal as well.
Ya, too high.
Bailey is this year's Jaden Hardy; pre-season top 10 pick that dropped and might be taken early in the 2nd round but should've been drafted in the early 20's.

So many analysts just continue to keep him in the lottery and I know there’s some 3 level scoring and decent bball IQ but nothing amazing physically or skill wise.

Hardy will prove he should’ve been taken in the late lottery. It made sense why he was no longer in top 5 range but people were inexplicably tough on his G League season despite some ok numbers, you would’ve sworn he was putting up single digits off the bench…

Not saying Drake is making the pick, I’m saying he might just make a suggestion. Bailey was a secondary suggestion to Miller. He fits what we’re looking for as well. Bufkin fans need to familiarize themselves with Bailey if they haven’t done so already.

Bailey is a first round talent. He fits in with what we’re doing, and I’m not saying Drake is going to have that much influence, just that he might make a suggestion. A drake song or two mentioning a guy can do a lot for marketing and selling jerseys.

LOL why would we ask Drake for his opinion on who the Raptors should pick at 13? Has he become scout recently?

I never said that, but feel free to quote me where I said we’ll ask Drake who to pick.

Told people last year Hardy was worthy of going much higher last year, but just like this year people aren’t able to see the bigger picture. People get tunnel vision.

I think he might be the fastest players in the class on-ball. I think his handle is close to best in class, if not best, and coupled with his scoring ability from mid range, and three and his floater (when working) keeps teams guessing. His dribble pullup is very smooth.
He is a multiple reads type of guard. Firstly, he also knows how to play off ball which isn't the case with a lot of the other ball dominant guys. He can initiate a play, then relocate to the corners or cut to the rim and make a play to score or kick out or make a quick swing on the interior. He always is reading for good options.
He is a much better shooter than people give him credit for: shot 55.6% on all unguarded catch and shoot jumpers (97th percentile). He also hits deep range threes.
The biggest factor could be the size which is estimated at 6'5 and 6'10" WS. Assuming he fills out his body he can guard at least 2 positions.
I do think he is skinny, has a wonky knee and had some poor scoring numbers at the rim, but he had his flashes of high level scoring and he shows really high character and leadership. He always came back being a good teammate and not pulling out of things to hurt his draft stock.

Bailey is going to be a good get for any team. He has more than 500,000 followers on Instagram so he brings marketability. The Drake thing helped, but he is well-known in the US.
As far as a prospect, his combine work showed him as a lead ballhandler and it was really good. I just don't buy his jumper which is make or break for him. I was hoping he would stay for another year, but he is going to be G-League hustling.

Re: 2023 Draft Discussion Part 6
I think Washington will take a long look at NSJ. He played for Beal's AAU team in the past.
Nick has already worked out for Toronto like Cason did. I am guessing they are competing together given that Cason was doing Wizards interviews today like NSJ.
Sorry Cason, but Nick has a way better and faster jumper than you do.

Unfortunately we were already enlightened by a poster here that NSJ isn't well conditioned enough to handle an NBA workout and hits his vape pen when things don't go well.

Not great for Smith at times, but Cason seemingly missed more - at least it seemed that way.
Plus, Cason has a weird slow release. He has a very drawn out follow-through and his dip before he shoots shows kind of not perfect mechanics.

Just keeping a count of the shots and both made around the same amount, maybe Nick made 1 more. I do like Nick's form a lot better and it is more fluid. That said, Cason shot it about the same and is a better defender, so maybe edge to Cason overall.
Wizards likely have Black/Smith Jr./Wallace as their shortlist. Wallace seems like the best fit with Beal because they need the defense and his solid scoring. Black has more positional versatility to defend and run the offense. Smith Jr. will be close because he has great upside and I think is pretty tight with Beal who likely has some say in who they consider.

Is Keyonte George even working out with teams? I haven't seen any workout info since this video dropped:
