Jay Scrubb Waived

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Tue Jun 6, 2023 3:04 am

Jay Scrubb was waived from his Two-Way Deal earlier today.

When The Magic had the open Two-Way Spot, I think they simply choose the best player on The Lakeland Roster to bring in for a closer look.

I do not think they were planning to bring him back so it's no surprise.

I don't think his NBA dream is over. He has some gifts.

That NBA teams now have three 2W slots, it will be interesting to see how they are used by the Magic.

They are useful both for training and injury management. And also for late season games.

The Magic seem to like what Admiral Schofield brings (presumably to the practice squad). So I expect he would revert to that. Then the 2RP. So one more slot. Either the Magic can go with Kevon Harris, or a young, project PG. Thus: not Scrubb.

I think K. Harris should have an NBA contract. Yes an older rookie last year, but shot well and played hard defense.
I want him over MWC or G. Harris.

If Kevon was on the Heat, he'd be playing 20 mpg. Here, he has to compete with a bunch of draft picks we're trying to develop.

you're right. Kind of reminds me of when we had SETH Curry, couldn't be bothered to play the long game with him.

With Three Two-Way Deals under the new CBA, I'd like to see #36 used on a Two-Way Player or see that pick traded down for a pick in the 40's while also netting a future 2nd.

I feel if you draft a player in the 40's or 50's, there is not as much pressure to keep them longer than you need too if things don't work out.

Kevon Harris is someone who could definitely be up for 15-Man roster Spot sometime during the Season.
