Why does option A mean never win a title?
Dame
Sharpe
Grant
Pascal
Nurkic
That's pretty good.

This is why I hate JKiddy's posts so much. He makes it seem like he can tell the future with every poll option. These options are never provided unbiasedly to allow for actual discussion, they're provided already tainted by what his opinion on that option is, so that anyone who picks it he can already have his rebuttal for why he thinks that's a stupid option to pick built-in. He wants these supposedly really open dialog discussions for some reason, but his biases and reasoning for all these threads are painfully clear since he cant help but put his own biases in the post.

It means in this scenario you may get to the Finals and just never win the title. But, you can have an amazing team. You might even get to the Finals and reach Game 7 and lose. It does not mean it is a total failure. It just means you never get a ring with that particular team.
Option A would leave you with no Nurkic, no Sharpe, no Scoot or whomever goes #3.
You would have Dame + Siakam/OG Anunoby/Jaylen Brown for 3 seasons. You would have Simons as well. The others would be gone.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Most competent rebuilds do not take 15 years.
All it takes is to build a solid foundation and then allow the new core group of players to grow
together. Portland after the 2023 draft is building the foundation.

I honestly think this is an intelligent gamble.
You trade Dame + Simons. You use the #3, #23, keep Sharpe and Grant, and use whatever you get from the Simons and Dame trades to build (get as many picks and expiring deals as possible). You tank for the next 2 seasons and try to get back to the playoffs by year 3-4.

Once again, you don't know that. Were you picking the Heat to get to the Finals? How about Denver, were they your lock for getting to the Finals as well? Since you seem to know exactly what "gets a ring", you should be rolling it up in Vegas right now.
I just find the arrogance of claiming to know everything that will happen based on a path pretty off-putting. It's totally discrediting all the variables that make up an NBA season and what makes a championship contender, particularly in this era where there's a ton more parity than ever before.

15, no, it shouldn't. However, 5 is pretty common. The Thunder are entering year 5 since finally getting rid of Westbrook and George. They look to finally be able to come back around, but aside from last year, that team spent plenty of time being bad.

I said until 2026 in the other poll and people got pissed and said make it 2030!
These are just hypothetical logical probabilities. Anything can happen. Did I pick the Heat to win the East? No. But, I did place a small wager on them doing that. Why? I live in Miami and I ave seen what they can do in person.

How about just stop trying to make any predictions and keep your bias out of the options?

That OKC team will have Chet (hopefully) ready for 2024 and should be ready for a playoff run. They have a ton of
trade assets to get exactly what they feel they need.

What about the poll's 5 options did you not like? It seems like we cannot please everyone here. 99% of everyone was fine with it. These are hypotheticals (not reality). One of them might obviously come to fruition. But, please explain to us.

We have yet to see a team really cash in on those dump truck full of assets when they trade their stars for half a decade's worth of picks, so we'll see. But regardless, as I mentioned, Blazers are likely looking at a 5 year rebuild minimum starting whenever they decide it's time to trade Dame. The only hope the Blazers may have to minimize that timeframe is that hopefully the previous 2 years of lottery trips can be factored into those 5 years, but even still, the players need reps to grow as #1 options, which doesn't happen until Dame is traded.

I think I've made it pretty clear. Not sure how many more times I have to explain that I think it's silly that you include your own biases' on these options.

Re: Updated Poll: 2023 POR Off-Season Trade Decisions
Sell the team to Uncle Phil.
Failing that, the Blazers aren't going to trade Dame because despite blatant tanking, they were still tenth in attendance and Dame's jersey was the 9th best seller last season. This is a business, people! Ownership's goal is to make money - not win 'chips. So realistically do a Simons+23+Little/Walker for DDR+future 1st returned swap. Use #3 to draft Scoot/Miller. Re-sign Grant, Thybulle, Shaq of Troutdale. If we're under the tax, use the MLE to add another big. Hope Sharpe continues to improve. Hope Nurkić can stay healthy. Team is probably a second round out at best, but it's more fun to watch than the last two seasons of blatant tanking.
