Lol, no way that guy can be an Orlando fan with those packages.

Yeah, I'd take either of those in a heartbeat.

Last year at this time Portland could get 6,11 for Ant

Orlando trade proposals usually involve trading up for someone who could be a star which is
why they keep asking for Sharpe or 3. Picks 6,11 won't likely yield anyone who could be a
star either and even if they offered up Wagner, he's unlikely going to be a star player but
just a guy like Batum, who is just a solid complimentary player to the team's star player.

Unknown if Sharpe will be a star player either and nobody knows if Scoot/Miller will be
either.

Every time I think about trading Ant to Orlando I end up at the same place

1.) I have no desire to trade Ant for #11 unless it’s required to get a superstar

2.) There’s no way Ant is worth #6 but I’d do it if he was. I’m really high on Hendricks and/or Walker

3.) It feels like Trent Jr. would be a close/similar/better fit depending on your view and Orlando can just sign him as a free agent & keep their draft pick. Of course there’s a risk he doesn’t sign with them, and they may value the ball handling more than the defensive switching

I've heard a lot of Ant or Herro for #6 narratives. They desperately need a 3 level scorer to pair with that front court. I woul think it's more likely Ant+Nas+23 for Isaac+#6 and that could still too good for Portland. I would LOVE to add Whitmore/Walker or Ausar to Sharpe/Dame/Scoot. Grant at PF+Ausar/Walker or Whitmore at SF and a center upgrade. Maybe we take Harris from ORL and send Nurk+Harris for Ayton...
Dame/Scoot
Sharpe
Walker
Grant
Ayton.
I'd resign Reddish and he can pair with either Jarace or Grant off the bench. Trading Keon+Watford and 2nds for Isiah Stewart gives us that modern bruiser of a 3rd big (I'd be okay with Bamba instead of Stewart too for length and spacing).
You still have the MLE, #43 and TPEs to finish your bench.

It bothers me how many times I hear Isaac's name brought up with the Blazers. Beyond just the fact he can't stay healthy, his off-the-court pandering to the anti-vaxx hard-right community would not play well in Portland.

If they did any deal involving him, I would hope it would be with the understanding he's getting cut or told he can just stay home and collect checks until the team unloads his expiring contract or waives him.

I really could see an Ant trade for his $25 million/year salary could really be a luxury with
Dame/Grant taking up $75 million between them. Team really can't move Nurk for he's
literally their only big

Portland will still need a big, especially if they end up picking Scoot, so presumably Ant will
go for a draft pick to draft Derek Lively. He'll offer some shot blocking at 7-1, but will need
a lot of patient coaching.

That should rule out Portland.

Doesn't anybody run a legit big man camp anymore? I remember Kermit used to talk about a guy in Hawaii who ran a big mans camp, focusing on footwork and basic skills.

*Edit* never mind Pete Newell died in 2008 (rip).

Rick Mahorn runs one now, teach our big to throw elbows and whoop some a**.

Portland really hasn't had the big man coach since Kim Hughes got fired for disclosing LA was leaving as
a free agent in 2015.

Reading the tea leaves and it sure sounds like Portland is doing their prep work as though they expect to get Scoot.

Isaac has been brought up a number of times as possibly ending up in Portland. It's an unavoidable situation if he does end up in Portland... not sure how it's OT.

I don't see how, it's not meant to be a sidetrack of a conversation, just a point to consider. I think the same uncomfortable conversation would happen if Miller comes to Portland. Just like it did when Billups got hired. Just like it did when they almost hired Jason Kidd. Just like it would if they brought Kanter back. Idgaf about your politics, but you can't ignore it would be a topic, especially since that's more than half of what Isaac does since he barely plays basketball due to his injuries.

Especially if Miller does not workout in Portland

Scoot/Sharpe would be the core of the next generation Blazers, after Dame and a fine start in a rebuild.

Return to Portland Trail Blazers
