Givony in latest mock draft

Pairing LaMelo Ball with Scoot Henderson is far from an impossible task, but is one that would take time to find chemistry for the guards on both ends of the floor, particularly on defense. Many NBA executives feel that Henderson's hunger for scoring will eventually make him more of a combo guard better suited playing with a pass-first point guard such as Ball. It's very difficult for young guards in his mold to avoid being net negatives early in their career, however, especially with the inconsistency he's shown with his perimeter shooting, decision-making and defensive intensity.

Miller's fit on the Hornets is without question cleaner, considering how little talent Charlotte has on the wing. His ability to make shots in dynamic fashion from all over the floor, create for others off a live dribble, defend multiple positions and generally play the big guard/wing role every NBA team covets currently gives him the edge for me both in terms of fit and long-term. -- Jonathan Givony

Yeah just for more context, the whole premise of the Mock is Best Fit vs Best Player.

He lists Miller for both.

I went into the draft lottery hoping somehow we’d get Wemby, but thrilled when we at least got #2 for MILLER. He was the guy I felt was next in line. I’ve been tempted a lot by Scoot, no doubt, but for all the reasons Givony cites, I hope we take Brandon.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I'm torn. I prefer Miller, but I'm not going to jump off a ledge if we select Scoot.

Now if we select one of the Thompson twins I'll probably lose my **** for a day or two.

Pretty much. Miller and Scoot would def be #1 in some drafts so I feel like we're in a good position to take Amen Thompson and shock the world.

I tend to stray away from players knocking down 3s in pre-draft workouts since I watched Zeller look like Dirk in his Kings workout, but that's ridiculously effortless.

Good to see it looks like he is back in shape (if that report was true) would really suck if he ended up being the better player, but our scouting got skewed due to him being out of shape during our workout

Being pedantic maybe but his shot looks a little flat coming out of his hands

It definitely is a little flat. Wonder how much of that changes over time, but at his height and being perimeter oriented it might not be that big an issue.

I do love how repeatable and effortless it is. No wasted motion, no weird ticks, just the same boring motion over and over again (in a good way).

One other thing I noticed that makes me think he's a truly good shooter is that he always sets the ball with the lines going the same way like you would if taking your time.

I've been on the Miller wagon for a while. Not like jmac because I still like scoot, but that's just the way he shoots. He's also 6'9. If he was 6'3 and shot like that, that could be problematic. Release is also ridiculously quick. He gets the ball in his hands and let's it fly. It's not curry quick by any means, but he let's it fly and the rotation is nice.

It's hard not to like that shot. Its effortless and consistent. A little low and flat, but at his height it wouldn't be an issue.

The type of shot that if he is open you feel like it’s in, we really don’t have guys like that.

One thing about both Miller and Scoot is I don't think we can go wrong with either. What Miller provides is priceless being able to play 4 positions. I think Scoot might end up being a bit better but not by much if at all. Definately not anything to lose sleep over, at least not between these two.

Something that makes me feel great about Miller is I've heard he has made quick and noticeable improvements in various facets of his game several times.

Apparently his 3pt shooting wasn't anything special in highschool, but at the next level it was his main strength. Also his inside scoring was awful at first, but that noticeablely improved alot before the groin issues.

It would be awesome if he becomes the kind of pro that makes significant improvements in one aspect of his game between every summer. That was one of my favorite things about Kemba.

Another thing I like about Miller is that he played through an injury. They had something to play for so he wasn't willing to quit on his team. When Ben Simmons did that at LSU it should have been seen as the clear red flag that it was.

How do you feel about Scoot shutting it down at the end of the G-League season?
