My Sample:

5. Jordan Hawkins - Elite shooting specialist
6. Ausar Thompson - Star potential with risk
7. Amen Thompson - Star potential with risk
8. Taylor Hendricks - Useful starting role player
9. Cason Wallace - Growing, but I need more than "he went to Kentucky".
10. Bilal Coulibaly - A WeHam player if there ever was one.
11. Jarace Walker - Fit is a major concern, but we could use a "Draymond".
12. Grady Dick - Eh, fills a need, but no star potential.
Scenario 1
6 - Cam Whitmore, SG/SF
11 - Jordan Hawkins, SG
36 - Trey Jemison, C
Scenario 2
6 - Trey Hendricks
11 - Jordan Hawkins
36 - GG Jackson

With the 6th I’d like Cam or one of the Thomson brothers. With 11, any of Hawkins, Dick or Wallace.

1st pick - after finding out SA tanked for TD , the league decided to take away their draft pick
2nd - after new videos show that Bridges.beat up more women, we are taking away more of their drafy picks
3rd - After taking pity on high lotto rookies history with POR, the league has decided to ban POR from top 10 picks
4th pick - the league has decided to agree to.HOU deal to take away their draft pick in order to open a strip bar in the locker room
5th pick - after fooling everyone that he is 6'8 but in reality jist 6'5, the league is punishing Cade in particular and DET in general by taking away their draft pick
6th pick - technicqlly with the 1st pick, the Orlando Magic select, Victor Web-something

Re: Your best draft day scenario (no trades)
Orlando is drafting for bench players in the 2023/24 season, where one of these two picks is hopeful to grow into something more substantial. For the SRP, this is either the third TW-player or for an outright Osceola signee.
If I were PBO/GM:
At #6, the Magic need to go full-BPA, and no PG or combo-guard will be BPA at 6. So this would be about choosing the highest rated of these players. Cam Whitmore, Jarace Walker, Gradey Dick, or Taylor Hendricks. I would trust the scouts to work out which one of these guys to tab.
At #11, I would have the scouts take a LONG look at Leonard Miller. But probably conclude he has too much bust potential. if any of the above four are available, that's the guy. If not, and then, if any of the over-hyped comb-guards is available, that's the guy (A-Thompson, Black). Assuming that none are available, I would have the most skilled player drafted here. Jordan Hawkins or Dereck Lively would get long looks. I would also serious look to trade-down with this pick or package this pick in a vet trade with G-Harris, Okeke, to expand SG depth (but we aren't given that choice).
At #36, as the Magic is not drafting for a player that would make the team, this is about the deelopntdal project most likely to become an NBA asset (e.g. as much as I love Marcus Sasser as a SRP, he is not a fit to the Magic). Brice Sensabaugh or Tristan Vukčević are the kinds of players I would have the scouts look hard at.
So: my draft: Hendricks at 6, Dick at 11 (or Hawkins if unavailable). And Brice Sensabaugh at 36 (I am a sucker for local kids).
Of course the Magic could draft Dick at 6 and Hendricks at 11, and end up with the same outcome. There is basically no "upside" difference of players mocked from 4-to-13, for me.

Re: Your best draft day scenario (no trades)
My top 11
1. Wemby - Looks legit
2. Scoot - love his strength, hand size, wing span, and ball control
3. Ausar - Love his physical tools, handle, defense, athleticism, and quiet personality. Will not rock the boat
4. Amen - Same as Ausar accept a bit more of a dominant personality
5. Miller - best college prospect, off court issues are scary
6. Keyonte - shades of Isaiah and Edwards, Big 12 ROY, fearless shooter
7. Gradey - shooter that can be effective on defense
8. Black - Great perimeter defender, strong, gets to the line, lead guard potential
9. Whitmore - Franz with better athleticism and much worse feel for the game
10. Cason - good defender with lead guard potential
11. Walker - versatile but undersized big
Best draft outcome
No. 6 Ausar
Great physical tools with guard skills, I buy the hype and upside
No. 11 Keyonte
Best SG in this draft, underrated playmaking, I believe in his shooting
No. 36 Trayce
Super productive and efficient big
Roster
Point guard: Fultz
Combo guard: Keyonte
Shooting guard: Suggs
Swing-man: Ausar
Small forward: Franz
Combo forward: JI
Power forward: Paolo
Combo big: Bol (I prefer Moritz but he's a free agent)
Quick center: WCJ
Power center: Goga

Re: Your best draft day scenario (no trades)
Please, for the love of everything that is good and right, stop wanting Gradey Dick… I agree Magic need shooting but he is a Corey Kispert comp player and is NOT worth a lottery pick. The Magic need to sign role players in the offseason—these picks need to be high potential plays… This draft will be one of the deepest we come across and settling for filling a need is crazy…
My hope is they trade back from 6 and to 9 and 16, but this post says no trades, so…
#6
#11
Some order of Coulibaly and JHS
#36
Hoping Whitehead, Podz, or TJD is there.

If Kispert was available for the #11, there is no doubt in my mind the Magic would make that trade. If the Wizards blow up the roster, he could be an interesting asset to solidify this roster.

#6 - BPA - not in love with the Thompson twins (doctor doctor). but i have to trust scouts and GM that know more basketball than i do. but if we arent trading for a SG, then Thompson/Black/Whitemore if there.
#11 - I personally like Hawkins, but him, Dick, JHS. we need shooting, even if they arent starting.
#36 - Whitehead if there, or Podz/Sensabaugh. otherwise, a defensive center prospect to build on. someone like Skin's Jemison, who will come in with a chip and do the dirty work around the basket.

Re: Your best draft day scenario (no trades)
6 - BPA regardless of position. Could be ceiling.
11 - There are several lights out NBA ready shooters here. I at the moment am looking at Hawkins. Yeah he is older, but the kid can flat out shoot. I look at him and sometimes see another Lillard before reminding myself that I am fooling myself with the numbers.
36 - What any respectable Orlando Magic GM would do. Cash considerations.

Cason and Cam is a great backcourt! Podziemski is low-key the best shooting prospect in the draft. As always, I love your vision for the team.MagicMatic wrote:My ideal draft:

Re: Your best draft day scenario (no trades)
My Big Board is different from what I hope will happen. Barring a dream trade for Scoot, I want Gradey Dick. If we think he'll be there at 11, take a swing on Thompson or Whitmore at 6. If we don't think he'll be there at 11, I have no problem taking him at 6 and hope Walker or Hendricks is there at 11.
Best Case Scenario at this time:
6. Amen: I think we need another all-star level player to contend for a championship. Outside of the top three, Amen might have the best chance at that. Take a chance that Suggs, Franz, Paolo, and WCJ could improve enough as shooters to build a dangerous offense. I'm still super skeptical of the twins, but this is where I'm at for now.
11. Gradey: When I watched him, he's more than just a shooter. He'll be able to cut and have enough athleticism to be a decent all-around scorer, and I don't see him as a defensive liability. Not a lock-down defender, but not a Duncan Robinson like liability.
36. Rupert/Podz/GG/Clowney/Strather: All of these guys may be gone, but one could slip and any would be a great pick.
Post Draft:
Fultz/Amen/Cole
Suggs/Cole/Dick/Houstan
Franz/Dick/Houstan
Paolo/Moe W/JI
WCJ/Moe/Bol/Goga
Personally, if we get Amen and think he's the real deal, I see us moving on from Fultz.

Re: Your best draft day scenario (no trades)
#6 is a wild one for me...I'll just say BPA at any spot and hope we score real help in FA/trade. To avoid being a drag, I'll say Whitmore as a big bet, even though I can tear apart his projections.
#11, I really like Hawkins and think he's never going to be an All-Star, but he will help others become All-Stars with his reliable shooting and disruptive energy and movement. I just see an easy transfer of his game to the NBA.
#36, someone will drop. I'd love it to be Podz or Whitehead, but I don't think they're there. I'll say Trayce Jackson-Davis from IND. He could, at 23, contribute right away.
There's so many interesting scenarios...I could get behind Cason Wallace, Nick Smith, Keyonte George - IF ORL felt they could be our Lead Guard after Fultz' expires or is moved....But I definitely don't have enough knowledge to determine their true capability there.

Nice. My ideal draft is the same as yours, and I am coming around to your alternate draft as well. I'm liking Black the more I look into him, I just think the FO would have to make some proactive moves to clear up the backcourt and that doesn't seem like something that is part of their process
