That is not happening. We don't give up enough for Johan. Mike Gonzalez had TJ so I believe he would be out all year or just coming back at the end. Giambi has a NTC and has said before that he would not waive it and Shields is done. That's a pretty bad package for Carl Crawford and I don't believe that would get it done. Crawford will hit free agency so you might as well wait for that. Crawford has complained time and time again that he does not want to lead off and he wants to be 3rd in the order and without Torre we don't have the right manager to put him in his place, not yet anway. I like my plan better. -Jitpal

Because Moose has a track record of success and is owed $11 million. I can guarentee you he'll either be traded or be on this team for all of next year, you don't get rid of $11 million investments, especially $11 million dollar investments that have been with your team for 7 years and running.

You still trust Moose?I would replace him with Chamberlain i think he would be alot better give the young guns a chance and see what can happen everyone fell in love with Joba, and we have other pitchers like Sanchez to replace Joba in the pen.

You need injury insurance. And Joba will only be able to pitch 140-150 innings this year. Moose can pitch much more.
There is nothing wrong with having additional starters...as we have learned way too harshly the last 4 years.

Exactly, you let Joba start the year in the pen. Mid-May you send him down to AAA, let him become a starter again, and then run a 6 man rotation from June onwards. Hughes and Kennedy could use the extra day off to keep their arms from falling off because it will be the most both of them have pitched overall. If Pettitte returns then you can keep him fresh for the stretch run and Moose too, could use the extra rest. Later in the season we saw Moose was much better off of extra rest. -Jitpal

so Moose takes one of our good prospects spot Alan Horne why not try him first maybe he can be the 6th starter.

Prospects don't always pan out. It's always good to have a proven pitcher on the staff, although he is a shell of what he used to be.

I know this thats why i said we can try then i would have no problem with Moose if Horne is a bust.

Coaching staff:
Manager: Joe Girardi
Bench Coach: Don Mattingly
First base coach: Tony Pena
Third base coach: Luis Sojo
Honestly, I have no idea if Mattingly would be bench coach for Girardi or if Pena would return to first base coach (probably not).
1.) Platoon Matsui and Duncan at DH
2.) Trade Igawa, Sardinia and Clippard for Street
3.) Farnsworth, DeSalvo to Rockies for Affeldt
4.) Giambi to Angels for Willits, maybe some prospects if we pick up some cash
5.) Mussina to an NL team for prospects (I don't think he'd take the demotion to reliever)
6.) Let Vizcaino go if he doesn't accept arb/take the picks
LF- Damon/Willits/Matsui

Moose is in a contract year. He's got incentive to perform, if not for his next deal then, at the very least, for himself as he nears the end of his career. Remember, he got his last contract off one of his best years in a Yankee uniform not long ago. You have to slot him into the rotation to start the year as a 4/5 starter, not as a kudos for all he's done in his time here, but because he can give us the best chance to win. I expect that he will make a lot of adjustments in his approach knowing how far his fastball has fallen. It would be nice if that heater gained 4 MPH in the offseason, but being realistic and given his array of pitches, he shouldn't need to be overpowering to be effective.
While most of his problems came from his loss in stuff, a lot of his really bad struggles were mental - he had essentially psyched himself out of the game before it even started when you look at the comments he made during that awful stretch when he got booted from the rotation. Saying things like (paraphrasing) "I just feel like every time the ball leaves my hand something bad is going to happen", staring in at the ump every time he didn't like a call, all that stuff indicated to me that he needed a break mentally. This spring, coming off a great relief performance in the post-season, let's hope that he can come back rejuvenated with his mind on a ring.
