Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
I know SFV really centralized onto PC overtime, but also know SFVI is cross-platform. Can one of y'all confirm there's no effective difference in platform experience as a result? I might pick it up on PS5 this weekend to start learning.
Why, while I am still playing D4 (literally still in the campaign) and with FF16 coming in two weeks? Hell if I know.

I've tried a few different builds, but I've been playing a Rend / bleed build more than anything. Going to keep that going until I can get some of the required Whirlwind legendary items I think.
Next up I'm going to work on my renown in all the areas to get the skill points, collect all the Lilith statues, and complete the dungeons with Barbarian rewards.
How does it compare to D3? I've not yet purchased D4 but I got right back into D3 late last year and played the last 2 seasons a fair bit.
Gameplay is much slower in comparison. D3 you could haul ass through Greater Rifts, not seeing that kind of speed thus far.
After playing Path of Exile where the meta is fly through maps as fast as you can, I'm really enjoying it tbh.
Combat feels crisp, graphics are great, story was fun, really great cutscenes. If you liked D3, you will definitely like D4.
No Crusader / Paladin class is my only complaint thus far tbh.

There’s not much of a difference other than you might be limited in what controllers you can use because of changes Sony made on PS5 (only a problem if you want to use certain fight sticks). The other, and I haven’t seen any data to say for sure of how big of a deal it is with SF6, is that the PC version of fighting games usually have significantly less input delay (which is desirable competitively). Other than that, they’re the same game.

I think my only real gripe right now (still in campaign and taking my time) is that the scaling feels awful. I don't feel like I'm getting more powerful; it's just adapting to keep up. Which makes sense as you progress in zones, but when I'm back in Kyovashad and I see a wolf I shouldn't need to lay 5 ice shards into it.
Don't think it'll keep me from playing long-term, but it is really annoying and I think they need to address it. It's just not implemented well.

I'm having a real hard time coming up with a build that makes me feel appropriately powerful too. I switched over to an ice shards build and the synergy should be solid, but I've having a real tough time with stuff that I feel I should be able to fly through. Maybe I'll resoec and start over again but I'm pretty discouraged. Might be zelda time again.

CostCo'ers - they have $100 PSN cards for $80 right now through next week (IIRC). You can do 2x account. Pretty great deal for restocking your balance.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
I have hated D4, but really like PoE and D3. I cannot find anything fun in the game to do, the world map essentially means you spend a lot of time traveling between places and not enough just killing dudes, and even then killing dudes takes way too long for way too long (aka the time to power up). Both Necromancer and Druid have felt absolutely terrible to play, and I have basically no interest in even trying to play during a new season because I can't imagine doing the first 50 levels of just awful gameplay to maybe get to a point where it's not terrible.
Have totally bounced off of it after about 25 hours and not too keen on starting up ever again without massive changes.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
From the sounds of it, I definitely like it more than you guys do, but where I'm at is that I'm not going to bed thinking about it. Which is where I usually am with ARPGs. Maybe that's a healthy thing
But it also means it's easy to put down.
I used the CostCo deal to justify picking up SF6. Also justified that with it selling incredibly well it probably won't be on sale anytime soon. I'm going to get frustrated, so it might be a small spurts game for me as I learn. Will probably play that the rest of the weekend though.
This $160 should cover SF6($60), FF16 ($70), and another $70 title at launch. Or maybe Jedi Survivor for BF and another deal down the road. Love me a good PSN card deal.

I haven't been able to decide who I want to stick with in SF6. I've played Guile and Chun Li in the past but I'm kinda diggin Honda in this game.

Yeah that gets a bit annoying as you progress, especially if you don't get any upgrade pieces for a few levels. You shouldn't feel weaker as you advance levels, but it does feel that way at the moment.

I have yet to pick one as well. Honda does seem quite good from early impressions, maybe a bit of a scrub killer with how plus on block he is for flying headbutt spam. I kind of want to toy around with some fast characters like Kimberly or Cammy this week.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
I'm playing around with Lily right now because I always liked T-Hawk. The training grounds alone are fun, honestly. I love the combo trials. Her last beginner trial was really hard for me to figure out, so when I did and it said COMPLETE it felt great. **** if I'll ever get it off in a match but oh well
ETA: One of the a-ha moments for me has been figuring out what I can do beyond a move's button sequence and still pull it off. Lily's combo I was struggling with involves an OD>OD sequence, where the first OD requires two punch buttons and the second OD requires all three. I did it a few times successfully, but I wanted to be able to do it more reliably. Well I then discovered that I can press all three on the first OD and still pull it off, so I don't have to move fingers in between moves. I'm doing it consistently now.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
It looks cool - it's basically Skyrim in space, made for 2023 - but this setting just doesn't resonate with me as much as high fantasy. Will be interested to hear how the story is. Bethesda storylines are usually weak (IMO), and it's about really making your own story out of it. Which is cool, just maybe not as cool in space, for my tastes.

Just a reminder that Bethesda hasn’t made a good game since oblivion.

Finished the Diablo IV campaign, hit level 50, and cleared the capstone dungeon. Mostly trying to follow this ice shards build (https://maxroll.gg/d4/build-guides/ice-shards-sorcerer-guide#endgame-activities-header) and it has me feeling pretty OP. Only problem is I keep running low on mana.

I could be sold on an intergalactic dark brotherhood, I guess. But can I create a character based on my cat's likeness?

For what it’s worth, I enjoyed Skyrim. That said, Oblivion was/is one of the greatest games of all time. It’s hard to beat the feeling of going into your first gate.
Fallout 3 was pretty great too. 4 was good not great.
But like MiG said, I’m not as big on space as I am high fantasy.
