3rd pick to Orlando
Multiple win now veterans to Portland
6th and 11th pick to team giving up multiple veterans
That’s what the framework would have to be for the Magic to move up to 3 presumably.

Re: Lillard: " I want to build a winning team in Portland"
If Portland wants to compete with Lillard, the most realistic Portland trade I have heard is for Paul George. Now he is due $45M next year. So some $ is going to have to come off Portland books. Grant is a FA, but assuming they would want to retain him. Nurkic would probably have to go. Assuming Simons would probably have to go too.
So in this instance what would we give up for Simons? I am not a Simons fan, but i can't ignore his production the last 2 years either. TS over 58% the last 3 years on a heavy diet of 3s.
Assuming Portland would still need a center. WCJ for Simons, Nurkic, and pick 23. We then use that pick to draft Jaquez. Try to rehab Nurkic value forn a future trade and move him at the deadline, he's not terrible, just not a great defender, and not always available. I may be undervaluing Simons value here, but i again i am not a huge believer.
Of course this all assumes a Clipper teardown, but I just can't see them getting better, and if you aren't getting better then you are getting worse. The third pick is very valuable, trading George for future firsts on another competitive team means pushing the rebuild years down the road.

I do wonder if WCJ would be a requirement for them. He fills a need on a great contract.
It of course depends that the 3rd team brings to the table.

Ya know …
The Clippers and Warriors are the two teams completely screwed by the upcoming CBA tax aprons.
If Portland has interest in Paul George, then perhaps this is our best strategy to take advantage of two bad situations??
We have the luxury of multiple lotto picks and expiring contracts and a quality big man on a friendly deal. We can help solve everyone’s problems between Portland and LAC if they want to play ball and send that #3 pick our way.
PG and WCJ to Portland
#6, #11 and Gary Harris to LAC
#3, #30 and Simmons to Orlando

Love it. Gotta sign Vooch or Brook or trade Fultz for a center.MagicFan101 wrote:Ya know …

Orlando, Phoenix, and Portland in a three team trade. Orlando sends Fultz and the 11 pick to the Suns, the Suns send Ayton to Portland. Portland sends us Simons and the 3rd pick in exchange for the 6th pick and whatever assets they would like ( Suggs, Bol, JI ) I know somehow CP3 would be involved in this deal. Orlando turns Fultz + picks 6 and 11 into Anfernee Simons and the 3rd overall pick in the draft. Portland builds more around Dame and Ayton having the 6th pick and whatever pieces also included.

Yup.
Fultz, Cole, Suggs and the partially guaranteed Isaac deal are now in play for finding a center.
