It's lame and stupid to care about winning one of the most sought after awards in your career. He should be more apathetic about his career. Loser.

Re: Joel: unchained.
Unless Embiid loses weight so he could be less injury prone and his stamina miraculously improves, we aren't winning with him as our #1
Crazy how a fat Jokic has better stamina than this fake ass MVP

You'd swear it was some selfish pursuit that was detrimental to the team with how some talk it.
Leads the league in scoring on .655 TS for the 3rd ranked offense in the league, while anchoring the 8th best defense in the league, for the team with the 3rd best record in the league.
Just because Joker pretends to not care about the award after winning it twice, Embiid shouldn't have any personal goals.
It's not like this guy doesn't care about winning.
But hey, people are mad that he played like **** when things mattered, so here we are.

Re: Joel: unchained.
Maybe I expect more after watching AI drag Eric Snow, Aaron McKie, Jumaine Jones, Matt Geiger and George Lynch to the finals the year he won an MVP, but I think "it's a regular season award" is a pretty dumb hill to die on.
Sure, technically, but it still loses its luster if you crash & burn in round 2 for the 5th straight year.
Happy y'all are happy though. Happy Joel is happy.

Hard pill to swallow: Swap Embiid with AI and this team barely makes the playoffs (or doesn't at all).

Re: Joel: unchained.
Imagine Vince doesn't go to his graduation and has the legs to hit that shot.
Allen never makes it out of the 2nd round in his career. Never steps over Lue. Never becomes the most overrated player in NBA history (by myself included).
The difference between Iverson and Embiid's team playoff success was that Kawhi's shot went on.
Also... The east **** sucked back then.

Re: Joel: unchained.
some are acting like they ever liked Joel in the first place.
him having those two game simply have given those types more ammo to run with.
He deserved MVP...but he also went out sad in the playoffs and should feel bad. I don't think you can run the whole offense against him. I also think that he can still be the best player on a championship level team. All of these things can be true at the same time lol. Some constantly act like its either or. Jo is a great player that we are lucky to have. BUT he also has some flaws he has to overcome and or be built around. Thats how most players...even those better than him...are as well. Jokic is a better offensive player than JO..BUT they built that team to cover his defense, his second in command is a consistent shot creator who rises in the playoffs, and they have versatile others too.
I get people being mad but some of either going too far or are simply getting their agendas on

Re: Joel: unchained.
You can't put this all on Joel Embiid. Yeah, James Harden gave us two 40 point games in the playoffs, but where was the consistency? Those 40 point games were nice! They were epic in fact, but aside from those he gave us nothing. The guy would completely vanish as a lead guard...9 points in a game 7. Harden should be expected to do what both Jalen Brunson and Jamaal Murray did for their teams in the postseason. These guys weren't world beaters like Devin Booker was, but they stayed consistent every night, put up 25-27 a game and never once were the reason their team lost. The players around Embiid are the ones that failed, mainly Harden because he's simply past his prime. He had two 40 point games in 10 playoff games played and he still averaged out at 20 ppg. You take away those two 40 point games he had and he averaged 14.5 ppg in the postseason. That's not gonna get it done from your lead guard.

Joel has had significantly more help around him than AI ever did. But the league is so different, not sure you can really compare the teams.

Re: Joel: unchained.
The hard part about Embiid right now for me (& I’m sure many others) is that I’ve hit the depression stage. I still like him & think he’s a great player but I’ve lost the last bit of belief I had left in him. I suppose acceptance is my next stage of grief lol.

Re: Joel: unchained.
Despite his playoff shortcomings, Joel is still a great player that we are lucky to have. Anyone saying otherwise is an idiot, troll or both.
That being said, before this last playoff a lot of Sixer fans (myself included) were very quick to call Joel the “best player” in NBA and would scoff at anyone who said otherwise. No matter how good a year he was having he never really deserved that title IMO (but did deserve MVP). Your teams can’t get bounced early every year while you flame out every year, and then we act like no player in the NBA can compare to you.
Joel being better than Jokic, Giannis, KD, Curry or Tatum at the very least can’t even be a discussion anymore until he starts doing some serious damage in the postseason.

I'm sure Dallas fans felt the same way towards Dirk. He didn't win a ring until his 13th year in the league.

Re: Joel: unchained.
Embiid earned the MVP, and has played at that level for the last three seasons. To say otherwise is the height of trolling.
Being MVP doesn't make him the best player in the league or better than Jokic, but if you traded their supporting casts and coaches, it might be a bit of a different story. Regardless, Embiid has shrunk in the biggest spots, and unless he changes that it will impact how his career is viewed.

I hear what you’re saying for sure. But Dirk had gotten his squad to a WCF or two before that if I’m not mistaken. If that were Joel, yeah you’d still have those who’d whine because that’s all they do, but he wouldn’t be catching half the crap he does now. The problem with Joel is that he doesn’t have even a little bit of playoff success for the talent he is.
always a jump shot away.

This boy better be pissed he wasn’t holding those trophies tonight. He needs to be even better next year.

Re: Joel: unchained.
love Jo but I never thought he was the best in the world lol. That has been Giannis, Steph, Bron and KD basically.
can't even get into those convos until you win a ring. It was the reason I was against Jokic winning 3 in a row as his only real success was in the bubble. He shut that **** down with his play. Now its time for Jo to do the same.
...I'd rather Biid go out shooting 2-35 and playing hard than going out in sad boi mode tho. SO this upcoming season is IT for Biid the franchise guy (doesn't mean he can't win it all later....just that it probably won't happen here). I am hoping a new coaching voice, the fact that Harden wasn't enough to be the meat shield for blame this time out and his "rival" basically lapping him and the fact that he got the MVP and fair or not it doesn't mean was much now...puts a flame under him. I am hoping the fact that we haven't heard **** from him since the loss means he is locked in....
pls god lol

I can’t get his apathetic body language from game 7 out of my head. Tyrese showed more fight than him and he’s a kid damn near. He’s about to be 30..he is who he is man.
