Oh... if we had come back from 1-3 like the Cavs did, I'd wager you would be prouder!

Yes, didn't want to say much. But for Spo to not work Yurt back into the rotation. Spo had over 4 months to get Yurt back in basketball shape.

You're drunk. Heat are in the tax and would be hard-capped just to sign Naz Reid? Why would Lopez sign a taxpayer mle to play in Miami?

I'd love Brook Lopez on this team. I wonder if Spo would want him or use him appropriately. He is enamored with small ball.

We seen Yurt play well. Zeller should have never been a long term season answer as the backup center. He should have been a bandaid till Yurt was worked back in. Zeller was past his expiration date on his expected contributions. Spo absolutely no patients with bigs. He did it to Yurt last year and to Olynyk in the bubble.

Game 3 of the ECF where Miami blew out Boston... I believe it gave Butler hope that his team was that good and he really didn't play all that good the rest of the playoffs. Since game 3 of the ECF... the Heat went back to the regular season version of themselves and ended the playoffs by winning 2 of the last 9 games they played.

Then I guess he'll look good somewhere next year.

Here's the situation we in right now.

With Gabe, Max, Yurt as FA's that we hold Bird rights for this offseason.

FAs we don't have Bird rights for - Love and Zeller.

Miami is currently owing 183mil in contracts if we retain our FAs bird rights. If we let those 3 walk then we owe 177.5mil to 9 players,

Jimmy 45mil
Bam 32mil
Lowry 29.6mil
Herro 27mil
Robinson 18.1mil
Oladipo 9.8mil (Player Option)
Martin 6.3mil
Jovic 2.3mil
Highsmith 1.9mil

The Salary Cap expected to be 134mil and Tax line 162mil. The league has introduced the second tax apron which is roughly 180mil (17.5mil above tax line) If we go over that line we will lose the ability to trade our FRP 7yrs out and will only have access to trade picks within the next 6yrs.

So basically that means if we want to trade our 2030 FRP then we will need to either let;

Gabe/Yurt walk and keep Max/Highsmith
Max/Yurt/Highsmith walk and keep Gabe.

There might be some way we are able to manipulate the cap to be able to waive Yurt and Highsmith and possibly keep Strus and Gabe while being able to still trade our 2030 pick but ultimately depends on the numbers the league settle on.

Best case scenario Oladipo doesn't take his PO which would allow us to retain all 3 of Gabe/Strus/Yurt cap holds and keep Highsmith while being able to trade our 2030 pick.

After that we can make whatever trades we want with Herro, Lowry, Robinson, Martin, Jovic and our 2023 pick, 2028 pick and 2030 pick and then be able to go over that number to retain our players with Bird rights, sign Vet min players and use our mini MLE as long as we don't take back more salary.

He is noticeably bigger than he was this time last year. Put on a ton of weight and strength.

Really curious to see how he goes.

If only we could please somehow convince OKC to absorb Duncan's contract with their cap space and send Jovic there for our 2025FRP back giving us all our picks back to trade.

Hell even if it was giving OKC Jovic and our 2023FRP to get our 2025 back I'd probably do that. Would then at least unlock the ability to trade 4FRPs if need be.

That way we have 2024/2025/2026/2027/2028/2029/2030 available to trade.

None of those guys matter. All are readily replaceable.

Our problem is that we need to dump a lot more salary, and the guys we want to dump are guys that no one is going to want on their current deals. Lowry and Dipo on their expiring deals would only be attractive to teams looking to dump worse/longer term contracts. And even with Duncan showing signs of life, nobody is going to take him in with $57 mil/3 years left on his deal.

We've boxed ourselves in pretty good.

Before he got hurt, I thought, man this was a chance to develop Bam into a PF and have Yurt in the middle and a Center that can shoot the 3.
Unfortunately, this is another role player. He's a very soft defender, in my view. Unless he develops an NBA center attitude, I doubt he can make a serious contribution.
