Looking at Potential Assists, we left 14.4 on the court because of missed shots just from our top 5 playmakers: Fultz, Cole, Franz, Paolo and Suggs. So some converted shots amongst those will help close the gap, and that will come as the players get better making shots and getting into position for good looks, and guys get better at finding guys in good position.

We gotta remember we’re a very young team and we’re about to add more youth who will likely struggle from deep.

You got me curious about something so I did a bit of a dive into 3pt%'s off assists from playmakers. So I went to the stats page for Fultz and other players, collected the totals on their passes leading to 3pt shots and worked out the total percentages. Here's what I found:

Fultz: 160/414 for 38.6%

So basically, the team shoots 38.6% from deep off assists from Fultz, on 414 attempts total. Here are other players for comparison.

ORLANDO
Cole: 100/296 for 33.8%
Suggs: 64/157 for 40.8% :o
Franz: 117/361 for 32.4%
Paolo: 103/329 for 31.3%

The Magic as a team made 883 of 2551 attempts from 3, shooting 34.6% for the season. We surprisingly ranked 7th in the league for % of assisted 3pt makes, with 85.8%, which would be 757 of the team's 883 3pt makes being assisted. Fultz accounts for 21% of those makes and players shoot +4% above the team's average off his passes which ranks him well in comparison to other PGs around the league, coming in 5th amongst the names below. Surprise standout here was Suggs has players hitting at 40% on average off his assists to 3 (on low volume), but which would put him best amongst all the players listed below.

LEAGUE
Luka: 269/676 for 39.8%
Curry: 136/345 for 39.4%
Fox: 217/556 for 39.0%
JRue: 232/606 for 38.3%
Paul: 189/504 for 37.5%
Ja: 190/520 for 36.5%
Trae: 218/604 for 36.1%
Haliburton: 260/735 for 35.4%
Brunson: 210/600 for 35.0%
Smart: 167/477 for 35.0%
Garland: 160/470 for 34.0%
FVV: 151/495 for 30.5%

Fred VanVleet somehow got the absolute worst out of Siakam (32% on average), OG (39%) and Trent (37%), with players only averaging 30% on 3pt attempts off his assists.

As much as people don't want to admit it, we gotta give Fultz some credit for having some positive impact on the team's 3pt shooting when they're shooting 38.6% from 3 of his assists. He's getting the best out of an otherwise poor shooting team.

Nah, it's just that the others pass to Fultz which drags their percentage down and he can't pass to himself for his low percentage bricks...

You just made best anti-Fultz comment here. Tnx.

Paolo Banchero shoots 90-266 for 2 FGM = 33,8% assisted by Fultz.

Paolo Banchero shoots 300-571 for 2 FGM = 52,5% assisted by anybody but Fultz.

Wagner's 2 FGM improves with Fultz, but his 3 point accuracy dips by little below 3% assisted by Fultz versus anybody else.

Wendell Carter shoots for 2 FGM 10% better assisted by anybody else but Fultz.
Where he does better assisted by FM than others is 3 point line.

In general , Banchero is biggest victim of Fultz deficiencies. You know... our soon to be best player?

And who has most benefits from Fultz ? Mo Bamba, Gary Harris and other non-important or already gone role players.

to suprise of nobody, Banchero and Fultz had -4,8 net rating. It's not hard to figure non shooting PG is apsolute worst fit to player like Banchero. We could simply watch Lebron and Westbrook to drive home same conclusion without wasting our time.

As for Siakam- Vleet thing. Siakam is bad shooter whole his life. He is career 32,7% three point shooter. Last 3 years he somehow got much worst. During 2020-21 he was the worst Rapors 3 point shooter.

Nah. Going by Paolo's "Passes From" numbers, his total assisted 2fgas from all players except Fultz was 246/624 or 39.4%. His total assisted 2FGA numbers were 336/890 or 37.8%. You're right about his fg% off Fultz not being great, but what were they off other players? His best was 50% off Suggs passes, 41% off Franz passes, 40% of WCJ passes, 36% off Cole passes. So didn't seem like anyone was finding him in good spots other than Suggs - not even Franz, who's supposed to be our #2.

You're way off there. Check his numbers. Wendell has his best efficiency on 2FG% from Fultz passes. 2nd best efficiency from Fultz passes on 3's after a blister 50% off Franz passes.

Wendell scores off guys from 2 as:

Fultz 52/94 for 55.3%
Franz 55/101 for 54.5%
Paolo 37/69 for 53.6%
Cole 12/27 for 44.4%

And? He's a bad shooter and FVV passes made him worse. It's just a statistical fact.

Paolo took 1122 FGA total.
479 were made FGA.

85 (made)/285 ( attemps) were 3s.

So he shot 394- 835 on 2FG -M/A = 47%

He shot 90-266 for 2 whenever Fultz asissted him. That's 33,8%.

In all- not Fultz- assisted shots for 2, it means he shot 304-569. That's 53,4%

But those numbers are apsolute BS and mess. for start they don't even add up. Cumulative amount of shots Banchero took on 2FGA is somehow 890 instad of 837.
And somehow they miss out on 6 threes he took.

Both Wagners made the German squad for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

This starts at the end of July.

I'll tell you what. I have watched a lot of Denver games this year. They did things the right way they drafted their talent. They let their talent grow together, and then they went out and added the pieces that fit just right next to the core.

I think Jokic is going to go down as one of the top 3 players of all time. Or at least one of the top peaks of all time. He was the clear MVP this year regardless of the voters BS rationalizations. Three MVPs in a row is something.

Now we have identified our core of Franz and Paolo. Suggs TBD. Draft picks TBD. Next up be patient. Let these guys grow together. When they are ready prune the tree and add the right fertilizer.

I am certainly not suggesting that Paolo is going to turn into one of the three best players of all-time...but he flashes the skills. If he could be our Jokic-lite.

I think we are in pretty good shape to follow a Denver-like blueprint...but it's going to take an incredible amount of patience.

Love me some Paolo, he's the Truth. In fact, he might be the Truth2.0
