Re: Official 2023 Wizards OFFSEASON Thread
Even if Porzingas wanted to go to OKC would they prioritize him? Chet Holmgren was the #2 pick in the draft a year ago and plays a lot like Zinger. I don’t think they’d want to give 3-4 years and 100+ million to Porzingas
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Man im still shocked at that Bradley Beal contract.
If I was Washington I would be trying to get off that contract while he is still somewhat a #2 scoring option.
Call up Portland for that #3 pick and salary fillers.

That contracts gonna be nothing here in a year or two when dames making 60 and browns making 60 and god nows what contract they give LaMelo and what kind of money some poor sap might pay for an aging star.JustBuzzin wrote:Man im still shocked at that Bradley Beal contract.

Would there be a way to send Beal to Phoenix for Chris Paul. Might need to be a 3-way trade?
The ONLY reason I would want Paul is to move Beal and then move Paul at the deadline.
I think I am just rambling here...

I don't think it will come to that.
In order to trade Beal for Paul, the Suns would first have to pick up the full value of his contract, meaning we would be stuck trying to move Chris Paul at $30M price tag at the Trade Deadline. Since the Suns have no picks to trade, this would be all that we would be getting in return for Beal. And I don't think Chris Paul is going to be worth that much at the Trade Deadline when we flip him. Overall, it's a pretty bad idea and it is valuing Beal as absolute trash, which is really not the case.
I figure the worst case scenario for a Beal trade is something like Beal to Brooklyn for Simmons, a small contract, and a pick or two. Beal really fills a need there, and Simmons has no place. My favorite deal is Beal to Brooklyn for DFS and Simmons plus two picks. (They have the #21 and #22 this year, or it could be just one of their 2023 picks plus the PHX pick they have in 2025.) I'd then package DFS with Gafford to Dallas for their #10 pick and one of Bertans/THJ.
Beal to Miami for Herro, Lowry and the #18 pick also seems reasonably plausible.
And if both of those fall through, I'd trade Beal to Philly for Tobias Harris and their 2029 pick before making that Chris Paul trade.
And those are just the obvious candidates. New York might also be interested in Beal. Orlando and Boston might also have some interest.

Imo there are only a couple of teams who could be in play for Beal realistically. Miami, Orlando, Clippers, Philly, NYK, Nets.dckingsfan wrote:JustBuzzin wrote:Man im still shocked at that Bradley Beal contract.

All of those teams have expiring contracts and at least one young expendable player to send with some sort of pick package. Plus they have motivations as to why they would trade for brad.

Nate I have a question. Why would you want hero and not oladipo ? It's less money and maybe we could get jovic and another protected pick ot second out of Miami. Hero is pretty over paid when his level of defense and I'd much rather take hero 2.0 in the draft at 18 in pod and have more assets and cap flexibility.nate33 wrote:dckingsfan wrote:JustBuzzin wrote:Man im still shocked at that Bradley Beal contract.

Except Beal and Dinwiddie have been proven to have a negative effect on each other's stats. I don't see Brooklyn doing that. Unless another team is involved in a Dinwiddie swap?

Yeah, I'd rather have Oladipo too. I'm fine with that. Oladipo + Lowry + Jovic + #18 for Beal.
But I'm guessing Miami would prefer to send out Herro in order to save on the luxtax expense. After all, they will presumably have to give one or both of Strus/Vincent a significant raise to retain them.

Very interesting article on how the Nuggets built a title team: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/37846076/nba-finals-2023-how-nuggets-cultivated-nba-most-dynamic-duo

Nice to see that the pundits think Beal is a highly desirable asset, contract or not. I wasn't expecting that.

Beal's value online is completely different than "real world." He'll have a market, but we're not getting 2 first rounders and 3 swaps for him.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.
