Heat Expected 'To Go Hunting For A Star'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jun 13, 2023 3:38 pm

The Miami Heat had an unexpected run to The Finals as the No. 8 seed and could be in position to upgrade their roster this offseason by trading for a star.

"They have draft picks at their disposal," said Brian Windhorst on his podcast following Game 5. "And they potentially have tradeable contracts and I think they're going to go hunting for a star. I don't know if they'll get one. I don't know if it will break their way. There's other teams interested in it. I'm not going to sit here and tell you who it is because I'll get aggregated. But there are players they are keeping an eye on and they have the ability to do it, especially if the players says 'Send me to Miami.'

"They have a little window here before the second apron kicks in where they may be able to spend a little bit of money. They have some draft picks they can trade. After the draft, they get access to their 2030 pick. They have the 18th pick in this draft, not that that's super interesting. I don't think they can beat all comers on a star trade, but if a player says 'Send me to Miami' in the next two weeks, they're not in the worst position."

The Heat were on Kevin Durant's list of trade destinations during the 2022 offseason, and they also pursued a deal for Donovan Mitchell.

This offseason, Damian Lillard is considered the big star who could potentially become available via trade. Joel Embiid is another star with ties to the Heat who could become a trade candidate depending on what happens with James Harden.

If Embiid goes to the Heat, then Adebayo and someone else and a pick have to go to the Sixers.
For what they do, Adebayo is far more adequate then diva Embiid. I do not think neither Riley nor Spolestra want Embiid onboard.

Then Beal could be a nice addition. They have Herro and a bunch of players with a very high output in cheap contracts who could be interesting for other teams. The Wizards need to deal with Porzingis's and Kuzma's contracts so trading Beal for, let's say, one or two of Robinson, Struss, Oladipo, Vincent or even Lowry could do.

The star that goes to Miami has to know he has to be there everyday, train hard, make an effort in every play and every game and every quarter. Not every star wants to go to Miami.

So the list is not long. Anyway, they are in a position that allows them to improve their roster and have the money space to do so.

I think it's going to be Dame. I just don't know if that could work since a Dame trade means a rebuild and MIA doesn't have a lot of rebuild pieces. Maybe a 3 way with Herro +Going to Orlando and picks + Jovic goes to Portland.
From Portland to Reno to Vegas to LA to SLC and on to HotLanta. Winning at life. Too Blessed to be Stressed

Beal. He’s also a very good fit.

This article is literally a nothing burger. Miami is going to have the same team next season. There are no "stars" available that could be traded for by them with the assets they possess unless it's a sign and trade. Kyrie Irving is their best bet

No. Embid not going to solve Miami problem. They need a big man who can play actual defense and can score at will. Embid is not it. Miami should go after Lopez and slide Bam to Power Forward.

They need one. Butler and Adebayo are good players but they are not going to win you a championship.
