Anybody saying the money works right now in the trade checker because they can match salaries has absolutely no idea how the money works. Micky's money has never worked this way. We are not going to be a super tax team or a repeater tax team in the future. It's fan wishful thinking.

They can keep Porzingis and S&T him next year if they don't up their offer to extend him. It's such a gamble for an injury prone player to move forward without a multiyear contract. The small issue is that they already paid Gafford midlevel type money to play center and would love to see him coming off the bench in Miami. If Bam continues to work on his 3 maybe pair them up.

Porzingis doesn't opt into his player option unless there's already a deal being discussed. He's likely on the move and the framework of a deal is already in place. A team is not going to make him opt in then start discussing potential deals and then back out and force him to stay when he could have become a FA.

He's got a deal in place with another team a year in advance? We did just watch Oladipo lose nearly 100 million because of injureis. I think it's a leverage play but who knows, Washington can outbid everyone next summer if they want to retain him, I'm not sure if anyone decent will have enough cap space to outbid Washington.

I'm not certain about the restrictions in this situation. But if he were say traded to Miami on draft night. Would there be anything stopping Miami from extending his contract prior to the season?

I know for sure teams can extend and trade a player. Which would add an additional 2yrs to his current deal.

But if either of those are the case. Porzingis would have went to Washington and said I will either opt out and test free agency and you will get nothing or if you trade me to the destination I want to go to I will opt in and you can get some assets back for me.
