If relatively healthy and allowed time to familiarize with the Nuggets - I’d go Warriors pretty clearly.

Re: 2016 Warriors vs 2023 Nuggets
I'm glad the Nuggets won and it was well deserved. Best team in the NBA with the best player. I was rooting for them.
However, they did just win possibly the easiest championship in modern NBA history. I don't think you can compare them to some of the all time greats. The NBA wasn't very top heavy this year.

I just think it's a bad matchup for Denver - Steph and Klay is exactly the type of backcourt you'd want against Jokic
Would be some incredible basketball I can tell you that much

To be honest with you, I’m not sure if the Nuggets beat the Warriors this year. They would obviously be the favorites, and I do think that they probably pull it off, but there’s some doubt there. The way the Warriors handled them last year gives me a lot of pause even though Jamal Murray is a much different player and a plus defender these playoffs, Aaron Gordon has become a stopper, and Jokić is a much better defender as well. Even in their sweep of the Lakers, there were some really close games that could’ve easily turned if not for some 29 foot stepbacks or heaves. I don’t think there’s any basis to compare these nuggets to the 2016 Warriors.

Eh, that sort of list will skew-heavily towards older teams whose opponents generally took the regular season more seriously. Where it's available, something like Sansterre's srs-eq is probably more useful

Re: 2016 Warriors vs 2023 Nuggets
Keep in mind that Denver was by srs the worst champ since the 79 Sonics. They were only 6th in the nba this year in a down year. Now granted they had guys missing games but I don't think a 3 srs team in today's league is beating a team that set the wins record 7 years ago(even with Jokic going super saiyan). Keeping in mind Klay back when was actually a very good defender to put on Murray. I think GS wins in 5-6 even with a slightly injured Steph. Maybe I'm underrating Den but I don't think they are a truly great team unless we are using a 'team x from 30 years ago has no answer for a modern team' way of comparing them.

Re: 2016 Warriors vs 2023 Nuggets
I feel like it ultimately comes down to which lineup is better. Death lineup vs Nuggets top 4 with either MPJ or Brown as the 5th guy.
The final form matchups I'd see is probably
KCP on Curry
Murray on Klay
Brown or MPJ on Iggy to help
Gordon on Draymond to switch PnR
Jokic hiding on Barnes
Are we sure the Warriors are just gonna completely outshoot the Nuggets to the point that their massive OReb advantage doesn't hurt them. The Nuggets have 4 or 5 guys in those lineups that can shoot. The Warriors have like 2.5-3 at best given how Barnes shot that series.
This isn't as lopsided as people think. Those Warriors had serious flaws once you adjusted to their split cuts and neuter the PNR. Their offense is NOWHERE near as easy to come by when everyone's final cards are played as it is for the nuggets who have 2 pure mismatches. And the Murray-Jokic PNR is more devastating than the Curry-Dray one because Jokic will kill Klay on switches while Draymond isn't gonna be able to do a damn thing vs KCP in the post.
The Nuggets went 16-4 this postseason lol and 2 of those losses they needed Booker to go supernova. This series goes down to the wire and I personally think Nuggets got it. Their offensive floor is higher imo
That SRS stat is dumb considering Miami played like a completely different team in the playoffs while the Lakers and Suns had midseason trades that completely upgraded the level of their team that full season SRS fails to capture. Their competition was fine.
Also Curry was hobbled by the Finals

LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

Agreed also Denver doesnt have a player you can hide weak defenders like Steph on
obviously cant put him on Murray, Jokic, Gordon or Mpj for massive size and or skill mismatch but also a Kcp or Brown have off dribble juice, off dribble shooting, driving. Even Braun is an active cutter and much bigger. Lowry is a stronger better defender and he struggled to contain their cutting role players even Martin and Jimmy at times. Vincent went from looking like prime Tim Hardaway and Caleb prime Mitch Richmond Vs an elite top 3 Celtics defense w/ all defense level defenders 1-5 to unplayable in some games b/c of Denvers mismatch generation
Denver pullup shooting the first 3 rounds wasnt a fluke either. They have so many creators off dribble that can pullup or penetrate. It got deflated against Miami b/c they and Spo run the best zones in Nba by faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar like no one else is even comparable and Gs didnt have that
Theres no 40yo Jason Terry, Andre Roberson or Allen Crabbe for Steph to hide on against Denver

Ill go Nuggets in 6 or 7. Ppl are letting regular season record cloud their evaluation here. League was as top heavy as its been in 16. There were alot of bottom feeders that had no shot to be competitive that season far more than usual. I mean you had a 73 win and 67 win team both w/ 10+ Srs in the same conference in same season

However, they did just win possibly the easiest championship in modern NBA history. I don't think you can compare them to some of the all time greats. The NBA wasn't very top heavy this year.

Eh, that sort of list will skew-heavily towards older teams whose opponents generally took the regular season more seriously. Where it's available, something like Sansterre's srs-eq is probably more useful
The Lakers played in a stacked conference and the Rockets were underdogs, yet 6 of the to 13 are 2010 or later. I don't really think what you're saying has any legs.

If Klay and Poole shot the way they did against the Lakers, we would've lost in 3

Don't think the Warriors had it in them this year. Hoping we make the right moves as I see us as the biggest potential challenger to Denver

I definitely feel that the Warriors had a better shot against the Nuggets than they did the Lakers. The Warriors' roster was anemic and thin in the frontcourt, so I think they ultimately wear down against Denver, but Draymond and Looney are as good a pair of defenders you can throw at Jokic to let him go 1v1 and avoid double teams and getting the rest of the Nuggets going.

Warriors feel like the perfect kryptonite for the Nuggets, I like them pretty clearly in this matchup.

Does Draymond play every game?
If so then yeah I'd go with GSW.

It would be a very entertaining 4 game sweep of the Nuggets. They'd probably lose each game by 10-15 points.

The SRS comparison severely underrates the strength Lakers and Suns before we get to the heat even.
I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.

Re: 2016 Warriors vs 2023 Nuggets
2016 Warriors are gonna stomp this Nuggets. That Warriors had bigs that can defend Jokic with Bogut and help from Draymond. They also had defensive guards in thompson and livingston so no freebies for Murray, Brown et al. Props to Jokic for being a juggernaut but this Warriors team are in a different stratosphere than the 2023 Heat.
