Re: 2022-2023 Magic Trade and Free Agency Idea Thread III
I would consider Beal depending on price, but propably pass. Second year of Banchero will tell us a lot about our weaknesses.
Denver has 2 defensive aces in AG and KCP. We have one in Suggs, we can also draft Cason Wallace
Franz and Paolo are good defensive combo on paper, but while Franz is good aproaching great he is more of a team defender than lockdown 1v1 defender like AG.
JI could be missing piece, but we cant rely on him.
WCJ is underrated and very good next to our forwards due to his switching ability but are they good enough ?
Trading now is risky becouse we dont know exactly what we need. On the other hand by waiting we can miss some opportunities and Heat showed many time you can go far by that tactic

My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Re: 2022-2023 Magic Trade and Free Agency Idea Thread III
Good news everybody…I have ALL the answers (again)…
1) GSW sends #19, Kuminga and Poole for Isaac, Hield and Gary Harris
IND sends Hield, Turner, and Nembhard for #6, Kuminga and Fultz( $2m guaranteed/expiring)
ORL sends Fultz, Isaac, Harris and #6 for Turner, Poole, Nembhard and #19
2) Cole and Okeke to MIN for Kyle Anderson (I fear Cole will want a starter-level extension & role)
3) Draft Hawkins & Bufkin ( or whoever drops)
4) sign UFA Donte Divincenzo for $10m for solid versatile backcourt vet (who is actually young)
Poole/Nembhard/DDV
Suggs/Hawkins/Bufkin
Franz/Anderson/Houstan
Paolo/M. Wagner
M. Turner/WCJ/Goga
I see WCJ backing up 4 & 5 with significant minutes. Slo-Mo does the same at 3 & 4. Turner embraces leadership role and defensive QB on our young team. Suggs complements Poole’s offensive skillset with POA intensity and increased 3pt %. Still a young team with tremendous upside in defense, 3pt%, dynamic scoring, and depth…with an added dose of young vet maturity.

Are you saying that 250lb Walker has the same lateral mobility speed as a 220lb rookie AG???

Aaron Gordon lane agility 10.81
Part of Aaron Gordon’s scouting report was having high, tight hips limiting his gait. Which we saw A LOT of when he couldn’t blow by people he should’ve been able to blow by. I don’t think Walker can do the stuff he does defensively without having pretty solid agility.
Wow... can you imagine a top-heavy 250lb guy running around chasing the opponents from outside to inside? That will blow his knees by next season.
A 250 lb guy like Banchero? LeBron? I mean it’s possible I guess. What do you mean by top heavy? Like his head is big? First it was because he wasn’t as agile as AG. I’m by no means on Jarace Walker train anymore just trying to understand.

edit: 6th Man Show covered this perfectly today. Gist of it is that Beal doesn't fit the timeline. They make a compelling case.
He's the same age as FVV.
I wanna be a contender for a championship next year and the years after that. Based on our current talent and the resources we have available this offseason, why couldn't we make a turn around like the Kings?
The only thing that would turn me away from Beal would be a bad physical report because I don't think it would take a lot to get him. The 11th pick alone would probably get it done.

Hmmmm..... Im cool. That means we use our #6 for shooting then. Kuminga still has upside and can immediately replace Chuma and Bol in the lineups and insurance for WCJ with his yearly medical vacation.
Does he still have upside? How does a guy with his size and athleticism not earn playoff minutes. I have no doubt that he is available and the Warriors are done with him. Just don't know why he would be a target when we are trying to build a winner here.
Because he is still a 2nd yr player.
He is playing in a championship minded team who doesnt care about developing rookies over getting rings.
He plays in a position behind Wiggins that blew up.
With Wiseman showing signs of life when he got out of GS makes you think if it wont be the same.
I firmly believe Kuminga and Moody were held back by GS’s success. I hate it when that happens to young players with potential like that. I think it sets them back years. I’d love to give Kuminga a try but not at the cost of #11.

On top of that they have such a small gap right now to WIN before they're rebuilding or re-tooling. Any good GM in GS shoes would be looking to pimp out Kuminga with his unknown hype. I think Moody might have more value as the years pass but not right now.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

No thank you, the best player in this trade is Poole, and if we offered them Harris/cap space, and #11 or a future pick they'd probably take it
The rest of it doesn't really help us in my opinion

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10077538-complete-2023-offseason-guides-for-every-nba-team
This Bleacher Report article is making the rounds on Twitter, with Magic-related tidbits being:
- Magic have "too many picks"
- Magic holding out hope for JI's health
- "sources say" they'll keep Fultz and Bol
- If they stretch JI, could make up to $38 mil in cap space (would be enough for FVV or another vet FA signing)
- Look for Cole Anthony to be available via trade
- Max Strus for $10 mill plus is something to look out for
Idk how credible Bleacher Report is, especially with our FO, but at this time of the year it's at least worth discussing I figured.
I'd prefer to move on from JI, keep one of the draft picks and don't mind going after Strus or GTJ in FA, but don't wanna spend the money FVV will likely command. Don't want to move on from Cole yet, interested in keeping Bol and Fultz as I don't think their trade value would return much as of right now.

I'm pretty sure we are trading Cole this offseason. Just adds up.

Exactly! a 250lb guy like Banchero who we play as our "top franchise" guy who we HIDE/PROTECT on defense.
Yet here we have another 250lb who we now rely on to guard the 3s and stretch 4s???? That is the premise of the argument after all. That Jarace Walker is effective in guarding the 3-5 which I personally do not see.

Same as me. There is a reason why championship team usually get the bottom of the pick. They draft guys who they can slowly develop and without expectations. If you give them a top lotto pick like DET with Darko, a lot of pressure to produce on the guy. A guy that is probably 12-20 years old and expected to perform ASAP as a main cog in a champion team.

I hope so.. it's really time to part ways for both sides. He is a NY boy though and we usually try to send players where they want. Hmmm.... BKN or NY any interest?

We have a logjam with ballhandling PG/CG in Fultz Suggs Cole. Sure we could work around that IF we use our 2 draft picks on a non ball-dominant guard( no black, cason, amen , scoot ) AND we are sure Cole is happy with being a backup PG despite his repeated interviews where he calls himself a starter.

Moving on from Cole would suck culture wise but I kind of understand it.... Rumor from the combine was that one of our team officials was overheard saying "we got too many guards" so we could be making room... Interesting times ahead

Man y'all get sucked into these rumors every year and then they show that they never leak **** and pick players nobody ever scouts or never brought in lol. They have to make roster decisions in the next season but that's common sense.

If Washington blow it up, would this deal be worth looking at:
WAS: #11 + Bol + Harris
ORL: Porzingis
KP has a player option on his deal for a final $36M season. He’s an injury risk like Isaac, but being a contract year he might fight through it.
KP/WCJ
Paolo/(Isaac)/Chuma
Franz/Houstan
Suggs/Cole
Fultz/Black
KP would give us that rim protection and 3pt shooting unicorn who would be a perfect fit next to Paolo.
