Scoot Henderson

Post#1 » by orthoman » Thu Jun 15, 2023 12:06 pm

Does anyone envision a scenario where we could trade up to land Scoot Henderson?

If so, what combination of draft picks/players would the Magic have to offer to move up to #2 or #3 slot in the draft?

Thanks

I believe its firmly on the agenda for the FO and I'm sure there've been all kinds of discussions.

But we're one of several teams looking to do the same and - despite having ammo - our FO feel no sense of urgency or desire to make a splash. They'll be outbid for sure.

I think we'll be out bid too. Which is ok, we aren't in a position to overpay. Our package would be pick heavy, vs. pick and elite player, if N.O. is truly offering Zion.

I am not against a move to get him. Prob 6 11 and Suggs get's it done. Maybe add Bol. Who knows. If we want to make the next step..does Scoot start? I mean I am pretty high on Scoot but no chance he is better for us than Fultz next year.

We do have a draft thread where you can propose this. Just an FYI.

I could see a deal with charlotte of something like
6+11+Cole+one more piece (den pick?) for #2 and bouknight

We get scoot to complete our starting line, suggs gets to be the 6th man or possibly a starter and our starting 5 is set for a long time
charlotte gets a top flight 6th man (who played at UNC), 2 lotto picks and another piece to add to lamelo and PJ Washington
They could have a lineup of lamelo, Ausar Thomspon, oubre, washington and Lively and a solid bench of COle, Rosier, mark williams, hayward

Seems like a win for both

I don't believe a rational trade is possible. Franz or Paolo or 6+11+Suggs, could get it done. I'd buy a Goodbye FO billboard myself under those scenarios...not really, but maybe

Charlotte has a terrible team and Ball and Scoot aren’t compatible.
I think the Magic would trade Franz for Scoot.
I think Charlotte knows that too.
So Charlotte is probably looking for the Magic to add either #6 or #11

You need to revisit your evaluation of Franz. In Simmons trade value article:

Scoot #47, the Upside Gang tier
Franz #30, the Too Young, Too Cheap, Too Good … Please Stop Calling Us tier

If there is a trade of Franz for Scoot we are the ones getting another asset back, not the other way around. And we'd laugh and take a hard pass.

Why not just go for Lamelo instead? I think with new ownership, they might want to restart the team.

6 11 and Suggs won't do it for Scoot. We'd have to offer Paolo and I wouldn't do that.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

What ammo??? Unless the magic are giving up Paolo or Franz (which they won't do) there is no way Char or Portland trades their pick. I don't believe it's a lack of urgency or desire to make a splash, there is just no logical trade between these teams to get Scoot to the magic. This is pretty much a 3 player draft at his point. Two get one of these 3 you will have to give up something hefty, the 6th and 11th pick is just not enough. If the magic can see that Scoot is a future All-Star, I think other teams can see this as well.

I think Scoot looks great and I'd be all in on committing to him. I'd love to be able to have a package that could land him excluding Paolo & Franz but I think there's probably better packages to be had though that Portland -- if he falls, would prefer more.

I’d do 6,11, WCjr, Fultz, Cole for Scoot, G.Hayward and Mark Williams. Sign a vet PG (D. Shroeder) and Center (B.Lopez).

Scoot/Dennis
Hayward/Suggs
Franz/Bol
Paolo/Isaac
B.Lopez/Mark/Moe

I don't think it's crazy talk at all. From a hornets perspective, unless the hornets straight up don't like Scoot or Miller or think there is something better later in the draft, why would you trade the second pick for the 6th and the 11th in a draft considered 3 deep? And many consider Scoot a future all star, many on this board do too hence why the magic want him. If that is the case, wouldn't you think the Hornets see this as well and ask for an all star in return?

For whatever player Magic would try to trade, the courterpart would always ask for one between Wagner and Banchero.

(clearly players with a bit of value, like Scoot so highly considered as a prospect)
