Re: Twitter Trade Rumor Roundup
I wonder if there is a running list of teams interested in moving up or into the top-3 the draft, so far I've heard of:
Toronto
Detroit
New Orleans
Chicago
Orlando
Indiana
OKC
I suppose it's not unusual, but I do think what I've heard so far really confirms that many front offices consider this a 3-person draft, with Maybe Amen knocking on the door
*************************************************************************
"I think some teams that have players that they're interested in have kind of turned their noses up at the idea of a package of Simons and No. 3," replied Zach Lowe. "And I wonder how much of that is at least semi-posturing. I asked a lot of people a very simple question yesterday, a lot of people around the league. Normally, there's a cliff between No. 1 and everything else. And we overvalue draft picks for the most part, although the top-5 are pretty valuable. I asked 'Is this No. 3 pick, given it could be Scoot, it could be Brandon Miller, is it more valuable than the average No. 3 pick?' And the answer was almost universally 'Yes.'

And let’s be honest, when they say top 3 they mean 2 or 3. Nobody is moving up to 1. And how many of those teams want Scoot over Miller?

I think the CBA ramifications are a MUCH bigger deal than most realGMers are accounting for. As potentially cornerstone pieces on rookie deals are going to be about the most valuable thing in the league, I would suspect EVERY team that needs a PG or a SF/PF with great shooting and defensive versatility would be lining up to see what it takes to get their hands on #2 or #3.

Oh God the LaVine for three talk has already started on the Bulls board because of the twitter rumors of them exploring trading him. Dear God, it's me TSE, I beg of you to spare us an influx or 3 for LaVine trade proposals on the trade board. We can handle one of the Toronto or Chicago boards. We cannot handle both at the same time. We are too fragile and bitter a fanbase and too small here on realGM!

Well at least it seems to me from comments (and I hope it's true) that POR will not trade the #3 unless they get a really good offer which makes total sense. If ya want it pay up big time, if not we will keep the pick thank you very much

Yeah, I think as we get closer to the draft, this is the consensus becoming clear. They value the pick really high and other teams covet it, but Portland is expecting back something at the same level of what they think the pick projects to be.
I also just think it’s hard because Portland values Simons too, so a trade is never just the pick for a star player, Simons at minimum has to come with the pick, which just ups Portland view of what’s going out even more.
All this to say, yeah, Portland needs to be blown away with a offer, having to be a Zion level guy, for them to part with 3 and Simons + whatever else needs to be included salary wise.
So to me, the path likely is just use the pick, unlock future firsts with Chicago, then go all in deal with Simons and future picks for something. Maybe that’s a Siakam?
Literally the Blazers entire summer depends on Charlotte. A ton of different ways to go but the Blazers have to know if they’re getting Scoot or Miller, because every deal after that pick will be based on what holes they still need to fill.

I'd package Simons and the 23 and keep the 3.
We basically just need a decent PF.

I keep hearing "Simons value is higher than you think." Over and over again. "The Blazers really really value him and there are other teams that do too".
IDK what that means exactly, and I haven't been told who values him highly (other than ORL and PHX). I guess it doesn't matter, after all we'll likely know soon, but I think whatever happens will surprise a lot of us.

I just hope this doesn't end up Cj/Olshey 2.0 where we keep him instead of trading him for equally (if not more talented) players who fill positions better.

I'm really starting to think by next week, this roster will have Miller on it and Ayton. I'm finding it harder and harder to see a path where they use the pick and I think Scoot seems much more likelier to go #2 at this point. Anything still can happen and change (as can my gut feeling), but I think Scoot goes 2 probably to New Orleans in a Zion deal (new owners in Charlotte will want a splashy trade and wont be able to pass up LaMelo and Zion together), Portland just picks and keeps Miller. Then later in the draft probably trade Simons and Nurkic for Ayton and Craig. They then resign Grant and Thybulle, and use FA cap to fill out the rest of the roster...
Dame/Vet FA
Sharpe/Thybulle
Miller/Little
Grant/Brown
Ayton/FA/Eubanks

Scoot Henderson Meeting with MJ
Consensus top-three 2023 NBA draft prospect Scoot Henderson is expected to meet with current Charlotte Hornets governor Michael Jordan on Monday in North Carolina, league sources tell B/R.
The Hornets announced Friday that Jordan will sell his majority stake in the Hornets but will still maintain a minority ownership share of the team.
The Hornets are in the final stages of deliberating who they'll draft at No. 2 in the 2023 NBA draft on June 22. Henderson and Brandon Miller are under consideration.
Charlotte is also weighing trading the pick, as the New Orleans Pelicans are contemplating moving up from No. 14 to get the second overall pick with the hopes of selecting Henderson to be their starting lead guard.
There's some pretty stinky smoke here with both the David Griffith and Zion meeting yesterday and this MJ and Scoot meeting soon. Could be a coincidence... but sure seems pretty sus.

Maybe Charlotte is starting to lean more towards Scoot? Or Brooklyn is now open to the idea of trading Bridges+ for #3+?
Anyone else have a guess what Highkin is referring to?

I believe the initial report was MJ wanted to meet with both Miller and Scoot, maybe not together, but on Monday.
I don't know if Miller's is more he already met, maybe, or maybe he can't get there Monday and will meet later.
But I've said since the lottery that I fully anticipate Charlotte to take Scoot. Even all this smoke, while maybe getting my hopes up a little, hasn't changed that initial thought.

Crazy 3 team deal, Zion to Portland, Ingram to Charlotte, #2 (Scoot) and #3 (Miller) to New Orleans + players.
Full overhaul for the Pelicans in one sweeping move.

So the question becomes, does 30 games from Zion, including missing the POs make the Blazers a better team than just picking #3.
