Get Chauncey a finished roster, then we can evaluate just how good or bad Chauncey is as a HC.

Ugh! He started the season with the best starting unit we've had since Aldridge/Batum/Matthews and proceeded to blow 17 double digit leads by the trade deadline with Damian Lillard having the best season of his career. He had one 32 ppg scorer and two more than averaged over 20 ppg, yet in addition to not being able to stop anyone our team with Chauncey at the helm was woefully inept at scoring in the 4th quarter.

I've seen more than enough. The tanking this season did not start until after the trade deadline, when if we had just managed to hold 10 of those 17 double digit leads we would have been solidly in 4th in the West only 1 game out of the 2nd seed. The only "credit" Chauncey deserves is tanking our way to the 3rd pick thanks to his ineptitude when the team was actually trying to win.

The bench was a problem and injuries played a factor somewhat, but yeah… the roster he started the season with was by far the best on paper this team had in ages. The fact they underperformed THAT badly and made zero changes falls squarely on his shoulders.

Billups is one of the best coaches in the league.. he's been told to tank for 2 years. It's not on him. His defensive schemes are incredible and he knows how to get players open shots. If he leaves.. a better coach wont be replacing him.

The defense is also far better when Dame is out despite the offensive numbers he puts up. His lack of aptitude there, collapses schemes consistently.

He hasn't been told to tank, until after the season was lost in the first 50 games. Those 50 games are on him.
Many better coaches are still available. Mike budenholzer and Doc Rivers to start.
Yes, Dame sucks on defense. You have to build a scheme to hide him. Very hard to do with both him and Ant (another horrible defender) on the court together. Billups should have done a better job staggering their minutes. They averaged over 24 minutes a game together, and had a negative net rating.
