Long ago I said the right thing for POR to do is to move Lillard and rebuild through the draft.

I also said I expect POR to try to land the big fish, fail utterly and pretend to contend for a couple years until the bottom falls out and they are forced into a rebuild without the assets available today.

I know what I want, and I know what I expect and they are not the same thing.

Not in a shambles, more “oh zzzz here we go again”

it would be funny if Portland won the chip next year. JRoy would be the saltiest yet most flamboyant Blazers fan on RealGM, if not already.

I, too, would be cheering for Portland to win it all if Siakam got traded there. would be funny but not out of this world if it was Blazers and 76ers in the finals next year. Nurse vs Siakam.

Missed that the Wiz give up #8 in the deal I commented on. I guess it is not outrageously in favour of the the Wizards but I would be shocked to see them land #3.

Who let the Wizards fan in here. Herro and #3 for a disgruntled Beal at $251,000,000.00.

Hornets gets hosed, even if you thought the other teams broke even on the trade.

You are right I missed the Wiz giving up #8, so the most implausible part of the deal is the Hornets agreeing to move down from a top 3 spot in a top 3 heavy draft in exchange for a late 1st and the right to overpay a 6th man until 2026.

I’m not confident Billups could coach the dream team to a winning record.

do you think they should have fired Billups and joined in on the search and flooding of high calibre coaches available this offseason? I bet Mike Budenholzer would be an upgrade over Billups at this point?

edit: I would like to say Budenholzer is an above average coach who can probably raise the floor of a team. what we've seen of him is that he doesn't do well to adapt in a playoff series for the most part - it helped when he had the most dominant player on the floor playing for him to overcome that lol

There’s no way Portland does Simons and 3 for OG and Porter, right?

I don’t think we’re moving Siakam. I think the Poeltl deal happened to pair him with Siakam and to help with the locker room issues.

All the current evidence indicates Billups was an mis hire and the sooner he gets canned the better. The players seem to like him but that respect has to be weighed against his competence.

I think the Spurs assistant (Hamm?) might have been a better hire, assuming we had pulled the plug and started the rebuild at that time.

It's not time to trade him, the time to trade him was 2 years ago. Now there are other big name players available on the market, Beal, Zion, LaVine, and there are only so many teams who want to be buyers for those large contracts.

Lol we’re not getting all that. Also this is horrendous for Charlotte

No one wants Williamson. Beal has a very small and specific market. Teams looking at LaVine are not the same teams, generally, as those interested in Siakam. The fit, for example, between Portland and Siakam is great, but essentially nonexistent with LaVine. If the decision is made to move Pascal, there will be no problem getting a great return.

Guys you don't trade siakam, while you basically have a deal in place for FVV to sign him 4 year 30 mill year per. Makes no sense to trade Pascal and then resign Freddy.

At most we may move OG for something, but not these franchising altering deals, and letting the FA's walk or whatever.

The point is the asking price for these other players will set the market, and Masai's sky high demand for Pascal (if he's even for trade, which I doubt) will look extreme in comparison. Also, all the players I mentioned are locked up on long term contracts while Pascal is an unrestricted free agent in a year.

I also forgot about KAT, there are so many All-Star level players available I can't remember them all and there are probably ones available we don't know about yet as well.

Don't worry JRoy all the news about the Blazers aggressively trying to make trades are just a show for Dame so that the FO can wipe their hands and said "we tried everything we could!"

Return to Toronto Raptors
