Still think we should be contacting the Nets and Pacers to see about trading back for both of their 1st whether we want the addition pick to flip in a bigger deal or we want to keep them for 2 cost controlled players. Or trade 1 and keep 1

Lowry + Dipo + 18

We need Evan Milberg to run the Wizards.

Sign me up for that. Trade Herro for bench depth after. Lol

Beal and Lowry both have the same agent. Wouldn’t surprise me if we keep Lowry for one last run with Beal with the intention of just letting his 30 million expire to clean up the books a bit. This of course is with the assumption of trading Herro, Robinson, and 2028 for Beal. A backdoor way of freeing up the full non tax payer MLE is trading Highsmith attached with Oladipo’s expiring. We are currently 11.1 million over and those two contracts equal 11.3

Brogdon is making 22.5 million a year and Boston not trading him to a rival. Not even worth the spec

There is no way we avoid the tax unless some cap space team generously absorbs Lowry or Herro's contract. If you take Oladipo and Highsmith out, then Miami will only have 7 players contracted. CBA requires teams to have 14 players. Filling up the roster with the #18 pick and vet minimums will still put us over the tax. There is no way for Micky to escape from the 2nd apron this year if he's serious about contending

No.

If a team uses the non-taxpayer mid-level exception and it pushes them into the tax-paying territory, they would no longer be eligible to use that exception.

Lol micky is definitely not going to pay the tax unless riley shows him a roster that will 100% go into the Finals again next year. It cant be this same roster minus Gabe/Strus.

If we manage to strike out again this offseason from acquiring Dame or other star that truly puts us at the top.. look for Micky to give the green light to Andy to negotiate buyouts for Lowry and oladipo. Hes gonna avoid the tax if theres no championship run.

And i dont think Beal is someone Micky is trying to pay the tax for.

Lowrys contract being an expiring is an asset that we cant waste.. that is a 29.7 million gap you would need to match salaries for Dame. Portland isnt trying to take on 45.7 million of annual salaries (which is damians number in 2023-24) that extends onto further seasons.. if they do move on, they want an expiring they can buy out, and assets.

We probably will need a third team involved to get this done with Liliard

Vertical Limit wrote:Strus and Gabe will probably sign outright to other teams and thats fine.. honestly their trade value was nothing at the deadline, we couldnt get a second rounder if we tried… and Strus did not make his stock better these playoffs.

Wouldnt shock me if his market is so dry he signs a one year prove it deal back with Miami.

Gabe stock went way up at the playoffs.. he will definitely get paid that 9-12 million per season by some team which is too rich for us when we are trying to land Dame..

Yeah I’m curious to see what happens with Strus. I think he takes a whatever pays the most total even if it’s like 5/20 instead of a shorter 2-3 that has a higher yearly.

I do think Strus will be alright and would have loved to have him back but get that bag.

Gave I think we end up keeping if it’s either off the two. He looked good until he joined Jimmy in until one leg club and he’s a solid defender.
