Would a Magic/Norm Nixon type back court work in todays NBA?

2 guys giving you 7+apg each. 2 titles in 3 trips to the finals in their 4 years together.

I know the Hawks tried to do it but didn't work.

Guess the Hornets are up next if they draft Scoot.

When he played with Nixon, Magic didn't have one either. It was only his last 3 years in the league that Magic shot 1 3 pointer a game or more (plus in his aborted comeback).

This. Two playmakers synergize well as long as they can attack off each others openings. That's another guy on the floor who can extend advantages when defenses are in rotation

The Rockets in 2020 had Harden/Westbrook putting up 34/7/7.5 and 27/8/7 respectively. Obviously weren’t a dominant team, but were pretty good, as was the offense (if gimmicky). Lebron with his off-guards have averaged 6-7 assists together.

CP3/Harden were a great duo, both averaging 8-9 assists per game. If Paul doesn’t get injured and miss the last couple of games against GSW, who knows what happens.

That 2018 team got shafted a little with injuries. Although iirc Iggy got injured on the Warriors no? The Rockets lost a solid reliable 7th man in Luc Richard Mbah a Moute those playoffs along with CP at the end of that series as well. Having another guy to throw at KD/Klay in those cleanup minutes is one of those '5 point swing' type losses where you now have an inferior player sopping up minutes.
