If Scoot impresses MJ in a sitdown could that change the teams thinking? Possibly.

I watched Miller's interviews and he seems like a decent kid as well.

Dude, I’m in the camp that we can’t go wrong either way. I was just posting what came up in my Twitter feed. I do think we were strongly in the camp of Miller when we got the number 2 pick. I think Scoot has made the FO think. My only point is I don’t believe a firm decision has been made. If that were the case, MJ wouldn’t be inviting them both back. Long story short, as long as we select one of these guys, we’ll be good.
No big deal I apologize if I came off harsh. Just wanted people to know that clip wasn't the entire segment.

No worries man, we’re all just wanting something positive to happen to our team! :D

I'm starting to lean slightly towards Scoot, so we will definitely take Miller now

Im getting this feeling we will trade Melo and end up with both Scoot and Miller.

Hence why they both meeting with MJ on Monday. Kind of strange to bring both in on the same day.

How would you guys feel if we traded Melo?

I don't think that is a realistic outcome. Melo isn't getting dealt.

I have a hard time believing Woj would say that without any idea.

Also if nobody knows what we are doing, why have all the rumors been suggesting we are favoring Miller?

Because clickbait?

This checks out with how we know our FO operates:

So we also have picks 27, 34, 39, and 41. When you consider that Jokic was the 41st pick in the draft, should we just keep all those picks, or as many as we have roster spots for.

It's awesome we have 5 picks in this draft. I really, really like the players that should be available in the late first to mid 2nd. The wing depth especially is the best in years.

Colby Jones, Julian Phillips, Jaime Jaquez, Jordan Walsh, Sidy Cissoko, and Julian Strawther are all solid 3 & D wing prospects. We have a good chance of being able to draft at least two of them.

We're gonna trade at least 2-3 of those picks.

We traded 13th last year because we had too many young players. No chance we're bringing in 4-5 rookies.

As far as I know we have 3 two-way roster spots available.

NO is reportedly unwilling to include Zion or BI in trade discussions to move into the top 3. If true, they're not getting anywhere then.

Neither of those players by themselves with their respective injury histories and Max contacts command a trade up to #2 absent inclusion of additional draft capital and/or a young prospect like a Trey Murphy.

And if they're not evening willing to include one as a starting point, talks are probably DOA.

Ive seen Julian Phillips ranked all over the place on big boards. I have him in the early 20s right now, but I've seen multiple boards from people who put in good effort into this stuff that still have him in the 30-40 range.

My ideal would be to use one of the 2nds and maybe another asset (hoping Rozier, but maybe some future pick action) to move up from 27 to get a wing shooter that makes it out of the lottery, then use one of the 2nds on Julian Phillips. If Gradey Dick slides a bit I would love to move up for him, but that might be pushing it. I'm not really a big Jett fan but hes just an example of a stand-in wing shooting prospect they might have to move up for.

Maybe something like Scoot + Jett? + Phillips

day 1 rotation
starting 5: DSJ ~ LaMelo ~ Hayward ~ PJ ~ Mark
core bench: Scoot ~ Martin ~ Jett? ~ Thor ~ Richards
spot mins: McGowens ~ Kai
GLeageue: Phillips

mideason/playoff rotation
staring 5: Scoot ~ LaMelo ~ Bridges ~ PJ ~ Mark
core bench: DSJ ~ Martin ~ Hayward ~ Richards
spot mins: McGowens ~ Jett? ~ Thor
GLeague: Phillips ~ Kai

coach: hopefully not Clifford

That is a thought that crossed my mind also but I realized that the best chance at that would be if amen went to the blazers and lamelo were moved for miller/scoot.

IMO, there's three paths with our surplus of picks....

1 - Use the quantity to move up and take quality over quantity
2 - Throw as many darts at the board with a combo of need, BPA, upside & stash overseas
3 - Trade 27 + to recoup a FRP in 2024 and bypass selecting an additional player this year

The 2024 draft is looking like its terrible. It might be a good idea to avoid acquiring picks in that draft and it might be for the best if the pick they owe to San Antonio conveys next season.

Repeating my previous statement:

5 picks aren't being made. I'd be mildly surprised if they finish draft night with even 3 of them.

Sam Vecenie's latest mock has us taking

27 Keyonte George
34 James Nnaji ( Julian Phillips goes one pick later at 35)
39 GG Jackson
41 Sidy Cissoko

That is a pretty talented group of prospects

^ if that plays out, Jackson's stock will really have taken a dump. He's a poor decision maker right now with bad efficiency but is the youngest player in the draft and immensely talented. Shades of Pascal Siakom. Wouldn't touch him in the lotto but would jump all over him in the second round

CBS mock draft has us taking Kobe Brown at #34. As a fan of Missouri, I watch a LOT of their basketball games every year, and saw Kobe’s development. Became a consistent complete player this past season. A big guy at 6-7 250lbs, he handles the ball well, shoots 3’s, big enough to rumble and finish inside and has good athleticism. Good defender, has his moments, but can improve there. Good not great rebounder.

Second round is almost impossible to predict, plus we’re certainly going to trade some of these.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Anybody feel we lucked out not getting the #1 pick?

Wemby is a unicorn, but I have a hard time believing a guy that tall with that frame will stay healthy for the majority of his career. Those guys simply don't play long.

Call me crazy but I think both Scoot and Miller will end up being better players when all is said and done.
