I agree that would be ridiculous. Not what I'm doing though. I'm just not taking it at face value. We know teams and agents plant stories all the time. I'd be a fool to just believe them all. Especially since we get conflicting reports all the time. For instance the Gambo tweets itt, I'm assuming you don't just believe them 100% lol.

They don’t have the assets. Plain and simple.

Which is why I think it's laughable people suggesting Heat should offer 2 or 3 picks.

Suns have zero picks to offer.

Heat should offer 1 pick, that offer wins.

Deals are never as simple as you are trying to make it here. It's not just theoretically beat the Suns offer by the lowest amount of value possible and you automatically win. Especially not when Beal basically gets to decide where he goes.

If Ayton has positive value(I'm not personally sold he has much if any, but plenty of other posters do) then the Suns can add value beyond expiring contracts.

But either way if Beal says I want Phoenix then Washington will either have to accept the Suns offer or keep the player. They can't send him to Miami without his okay.

Right.

If you think Beal will Veto a trade to the Heat, I don't know what to tell you.

Let's just wait and see what happens.

Of course, not. But you essentially just did. No qualifier saying "if the reports are wrong" just "if he has positive value."

Given the reports, I would think that qualifier belongs. It's no different than proposing a trade to the clippers or something in spite of reports that Miami and Phoenix are the finalists. You can't really summarily ignore all the information we have available.

Was it really wrong of me to bring up the report?

I don't actually think he would. I mean I'd choose the Heat over the Suns if I was Beal. He'd be the first option in the regular season for sure for the Heat. It's just a far more natural fit for the player.

But I also don't know everything that factors in for him. As Freak points out, it could be a relationship with Ayton(or KD or Booker) or it could be a physical location he'd rather be in.

I'm just trying to point out its not as simple as high bid wins when an NTC is involved. That's all. I haven't remotely suggested the Suns should be considered the favorites here.

Sorry to have ruffled feathers.

No. You can bring up whatever you want. I'm only speaking for me. I don't put that much stock into that report at all because I think personally it makes zero sense for Beal to want to hitch his wagon to Ayton. Doesn't mean its not the case of course, but I'm skeptical because frankly that seems like a terrible idea to me.

I think it's implied that, all things being equal, Miami clearly is the better fit for him and the better trading partner for Washington.

Granted, things may not always be equal but unless I've missed something he hasn't stated a preference as to which team he wants. The only thing I've heard is that Phoenix is considered the front runner because Miami isn't that interested...

I'm not arguing that but it's kinda what we have to go on, right now. For whatever reason he seems to want Ayton there...

WSH trying to rush a deal through supposedly now in case Dame gets on the market?

Going to end up being simply Herro and Robinson for Beal IMO.

dont really understand all the Beal hype and offers out there, especially in comparison to Lavine.
Lavine is younger, cheaper (37m v 50m), healthier, more team control, more efficient, and his last 2 years have been better.

Even if you think Beal is better, is he really 13m a year better?
Beal did have a 30 ppg season but that was 3 years ago.

If I where a team looking for that 2nd star wing I would go after Lavine not Beal.

Understand the difference isn't just price in terms of contract, it's price in terms of trade costs. Lavine is going to cost a boatload, whereas Beal can be had at a relative bargain. For a team like Phoenix who can barely afford Beal, or a team like Miami, who needs more than just Beal, he makes more sense...
