It’s a notable concern. But since acquiring Beal is all about the importance of having an additional reliable 3 level scoring threat, it’s worth continuing the comparison with Tyler:

Beal had wrist surgery that shut him down for most of the 2022 season. 2020 was a shortened COVID season.

Tyler isn’t the poster boy of durability. He’s averaged 60 games played per season over his career. Beal averages 52 games played over that same span—while getting the vet treatment with games off and the aforementioned factors (2022 season ending surgery).

Personally I’m more interested in playoff availability. Tyler has been available for 62% of the playoff games his team has been in (averaging 14 ppg). Beal has been available for 100% of the playoff games his team has played in (averaging 23.5 ppg).

Vets earn maintenance programs in the regular season bc they’re valuable to their teams. That’s a consistent dynamic across the league

Don’t really think the Herro part of it even matters really. Just gotta weigh the money commitment (200 million) with his unavailability the last 4 years and frankly the decline in his production.

Not saying it’s a no but that needs to be considered when making the trade.

I don’t see how it doesn’t matter. We need the foundational pieces that will give the team what they need in the postseason to be available.

I said the Herro piece doesn’t matter because Herro isn’t being discussed as a piece to be traded for Beal so this is more about what Beal brings to the table. I don’t really care about the comparison to Herro, I know Beal is better.
