Here's another young player Miami needs to stay away from, he's just daring the NBA to suspend him for a year or more. The gun isn't the issue, the way he's interacting with it is. What he's doing is reckless and dangerous.

If the Heat includes the 18th overall pick in Thursday’s draft as part of a Beal trade, Miami can still make available as many as three first-round picks to use in another trade if the Thunder agrees to accept an unconditional 2026 first-round pick and as opposed to a conditional 2025 pick.

In that scenario, the Heat could send the 18th pick to Washington in Thursday’s draft, and then could trade its first-round picks in 2024, 2028 and 2030 -- if it chooses -- after the draft if another star player of interest to Miami becomes available. Herro, by not being included in a Beal package, also would remain in play in such a trade.

Very interesting from Barry’s latest article. I hadn’t really thought about this but if the Heat can get Beal for Lowry/Dipo/Jokic and the 18th pick then they’d still have a realistic path towards obtaining 3 additional first round picks to trade.

To do this they’d have to get the thunder to agree to take an unprotected 26 pick instead of the 25 pick. While on the surface it may seem questionable why they’d do that, it could potentially be attractive to the Thunder because Jimmy will be a year older in following the 25/26 season (36 years old) as opposed to 35 years old coming off of the 24/25 season so there’s potential for them to take a bet on a better pick than what’ll likely be another pick around 20 in 2025.

If we facilitate that we’d have 3 picks to trade, 24/28/30 and Duncan and Herro’s contracts.

Wish Ingram was on the trade block, but don't think he's avaiable.

Herro + 3 picks is a very sirious package, who do you think are the best targets out there?

Yep and Herro could be sent somewhere like the Spurs to play with Wemby and his boy Keldon for 2 1sts which would give us 5 and enough to go after Lillard. Lillard and Beal is a pipe dream but the point is we can get Beal and still have a **** ton of assets after to use elsewhere on an all in deal or 2 if we wanted

I guess the question is what would that get us. Remember we would be paying the tax for sure. Assuming we already have Beal in this situation, the value of those picks get reduced even more. I think we would get more value trying to trade Herro alone instead of attaching a negative contract with him.

Off the top of my head, some using all assets and some not:

Lillard
Ingram
Turner/Buddy
OG/filler
JJJ?
Lauri?

Would be hoping in this scenario is Dipo over Duncan for added expiring money but regardless you can get something pretty sizeable done with those pieces

The Spurs hang up the phone lol. They are not trying to win year one, they have a plan to gradually get better so they can get another lottery pick next year. They dont want to deal with the Lebron/Luca effect, where the teams won so early it backfired on them. They will take it slow and easy thinking of the big picture.

They will "load manage" him. Spurs think big picture. They will use the pretext of keeping him on limited minutes for health reasons. That way he can get stronger after the offseason. No need for them to go all in on a win now mode. They of all teams know how to play the game.

Honestly I think the most realistic path would probably path would probably be to turn Herro and Duncan’s $50mill salary into a couple of solid rotation pieces, particularly in the front court for a more balanced roster. A move kind of like the Celtics getting Brogdon for a first round pick last year.

I’d have to really think about some names but I think Barry threw this nugget out in the context of trading for Lillard after trading for Beal. I don’t think that’s realistic at all personally.

I do like the idea but Issac is a huge injury list.

Find a way to get Sexton from Utah who's on a Robinson type contract, you get your PG who will give effort on the defensive end and who has the talent enough to score 20 a night. Maybe you can grab Olynyk also for a stop gap at PF.

That second trade is horrendous. Isaac won't play. So you're taking Herro away for a backup point guard and nothing else...

Please let this get done in our favor today. Really want this resolved before the draft so we can potentially keep building through draft day trades.
