MettaWorldPanda wrote:So much pacifying about Beal choosing Suns over us. Reality is our cap situation sucks and guarantee if we had so many non guaranteed contracts on our books like the Suns did he would be on the Heat. Wiz wanted a clean slate and the Suns gave it to them plain and simple. We got hosed. We gave two first 18 and 2028 and it wasn’t enough to take on salary. They decided all the Suns second round picks were enough. We don’t have a second to trade till 2029

Beal wanted Phoenix. I believe it was that simple.

We had the contracts (Lowry and Dipo) for the Wizards to be off the Beal deal in a year instead of four. Beal wanted Phoenix though.

So now the insuation is that the Heat didnt want to give up the draft picks. The draft picks not salary was the dispute. Heat wanted to keep the picks to also acquire Dame. Either the Heat played the Suns bluff and didnt think Suns offer was something Wiz would truly consider.

IMO you get Beal period. His age is something you have to value over Dame.

2. Don't believe we'll get Dame. Won't happen.

3. What other moves can we makes with our picks and Herro/Duncan/Dipo/Lowry?

There you go. That's the thinking. How can we make the East Champs better? I think we need to sign Vincent and go after Lopez.

Develop Jokic at the 4. And wait for a whale in the trade deadline. Let Strus walk and sign Vincent is my guess.

EDIT: Jovic

Vincent/Lowry
Herro/Robinson
Butler/Martin
Jovic/Highsmith
Bam/Yurt

Run it back 3.0

So the heat are trying to get Beal and Dame? I thought that was a pipedream of a joke.

I'm telling you what will happen. Dame remains. We pay Gabe and Strus a big payoff. We look forward to the development of Herro and Jovic. We hope duncan returns to his peak year. This is it! Next season..

The Adam guy (I know not the most reputable) is saying the Heat only offered Lowry, Duncan and a swap. That's why the Wizards went with the Suns

Might be a pipe dream for the Heat but it was an actually foresight for them. I do not trust Dame, but Dame is sending a lot of signals backdoor to the Heat and the Heat values that a lot because that is how they worked the past 30 years.

Arison has stated in the past to reporters that he will pay for a true title team, not for just a fighter punch team.

BBallFreak wrote:I'm actually not unhappy we didn't get him. We should be able to do better, honestly. Beal is overly injured, over paid, and not a great defender. Statistically he's very similar to Tyler Herro. I know he's better than Herro but not by that much, tbh.

I honestly believe we'll find a better fit.

I would rather this, then some deal that had Jovic or Martin going out....

Beal is better then Herro....but really he is not THAT much better then Herro...and would be a nightmare to get rid of in the future.

Lol…we really just lost the possibility to get Beal in a trade where we wouldn’t have had to include Herro and would have gotten out of both Duncan and Lowry’s contracts?

Now our whole offseason will depend on the unlikely possibility that Dame requests a trade and that we can somehow win that trade. Short of Jimmy straight up requesting Miami, we haven’t won a real trade in years.

We can’t even resign our own players without going over the tax apron. We going to be running with like 12 undeafted players next season.

Wonder if it came down to Washington not wanting to take on long term salary like Herro and Robinson & preferred shorter term much more controllable contracts in Paul and Shamet

There are two scenerious here.
1. Miami has some series inside information, they have a real tangible path to aquire Lillard. Wither Lillards team or portland told Miami once they saw them deep into negotiation with Washington to hold their assets.
2. Miami ownership vetod the trade, told them not to put themselves in a situation to pay or be in tax hell in the next couple of years.

Not only Dame requesting a trade he will have to be demonstrous about it. He will have to make a public scene, because the Blazers are gonna look for their best interest. Heat will have to unload a heap of draft picks.

Good! He wants to start, we are better with him off the bench or not on the team at all anyways.

Return to Miami Heat
