Re: Twitter Trade Rumor Roundup
if people are going to evaluate these fantasy trades as actually being discussed in reality, they need to actually practice a little capology and look at if the trades even meet CBA requirements
for instance, for the rest of this season: Nurkic + Little + Keon + Knox + Walker for KP DOES NOT work within the current CBA framework. Portland could not make a KP trade work without using Ant's salary. After July 1, Nurkic + Little +Keon + Knox does work, barely, because the unbalanced CBA trade credit increases from +5M to +7.5M in the new CBA
my hunch is if there were any discussions about a KP to Portland trade it was either a trade after July 1st including a future Portland pick or swap. Or it might have been the Wizards anticipating a Beal to Miami trade where they get the 18th pick and maybe a 2028 Miami 1st, and then the Wizards asking Cronin if he'd consider a KP + 8 + 18 + future 1st for Simons + Nurkic + 3. And Cronin concealed his LOL and politely declined
I suppose if you combined rumors you could get to something like this:
* Portland trades: Simons to Orlando; Nurkic to Washington; #3 to Washington
* Portland receives: Porzingis, Delon Wright (TPE), Bol Bol + #6 + #11 (from Orlando) + 2027 first (top-10 protected from Washington) + 2028 1st (top-10 protected from Miami) + 2029 first (lottery protected from Washington)
* Orlando trades: Gary Harris to Wash.; Bol Bol to Portland; #6 to Portland; #11 to Portland
* Orlando receives: Simons from Portland; #8 from Washington + #18 from Miami
* Miami trades: Robinson + Lowry to Washington; #18 to Orlando; 2028 first to Portland
* Miami receives: Beal from Washington
* Washington trades Porzingis + Delon Wright to Portland; Beal to Miami; #8 to Orlando
* Washington receives: Nurkic + Harris + Robinson + Lowry + #3 from Portland
Orlando might be the team that balks first in that deal but they supposedly like Simons quite a bit. And yeah, it might be a bit slanted in favor of Portland but they are giving up a 3rd pick and I'm sick of fantasy trade where the Blzers get screwed

Unless Blazers manage to get a quality blue collar guy to fill the frontcourt void adding KP makes little sense with the current roster.
Porzingis - Grant will be the softest pair of big men in the NBA for ages.
Dame-Sharpe-Grant is an OK combo in terms of talent and firepower. We don't need more heavily priced one-dimensional offensive players that much
Exactly but the 2023 version of Nene doesn't seem around

Bradley Beal just went to the Suns for CP3, Shammet, some SRPs and some swaps. Miami reportedly was hot for either Beal or Dame, but prefers Dame most.

Beal really did Washington dirty if the rumors are true he would block a trade if Ayton was included.

I guess... but I wouldn't be surprised to see Dame make the same request possibly w/ Nurkic, if he were to request BRK.
By the way, saw in the report that the Suns new owner will be paying $163 Million next season to four players. Take that, Tax-Man!

Phoenix has $160 Million invested in 4 players and unless they unload Ayton, will have to sign
4-5 CJ Eleby's of the world to fill out their roster. They need to move Ayton in a trade for
depth move

Highly doubt they have any intention of moving Ayton. I see this as a Steinbrenner, Sr. (Clemens era) Yankees style of move, where you willingly far exceed the tax, gambling that you're going to win it all as a result of you investment, and then off-set whatever tax penalty there is with the riches you get from a championship trophy.
Very much an ALL-IN move, that will hurt bad if they fall short of winning it all.

With Beals off the board -- Washington having very little leverage -- Lillard's price tag just went up for interested buyers. Bidding war.
Not that I want him traded.

I'd love to see a bidding war for Dame.
Portland would have to listen if Miami/Brooklyn or another team managed to offer up the
arm and leg for Dame

I think it's quite possible this is happening right now. I also think Cronin and Dame could be in very close talks right now as well. Time to s**t, or get off the pot.

Re: Twitter Trade Rumor Roundup
Does Phoenix acquiring Beal and the west potentially getting stronger change anything for the Blazers in terms of seeking a trade partner for Lillard for young assists/picks?
I mean adding the likes of DDR, Siakam, etc doesn’t come close to pushing PDX ahead of Denver, Phoenix, or other teams in the west.
For the record, though, I think Phoenix will underperform with their new lineup.

Re: Twitter Trade Rumor Roundup
Chris Haynes just dropped this:
There is a "genuine belief this could be the offseason [Lillard] seeks a change of scenery," adds Haynes.
There have so far been no public indications that Lillard is entertaining requesting a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers.
I never beleived that Dame would return quite the haul that we all would expect, if it ever were to happen... but the return from Miami would flat out suck IMO and that is why I'd been pretty consistant with what I'd hope to get from a BKN move instead. Yes, Simmons to Portland as a low risk/potential high reward NEEDED filler considering I'd want to package Nurkic too. Claxton for the future. Dinwiddie to tutor Simons for a year then expire, and if the Simmons experiment fails (and it very well could) his big-ass salary comes off the books in two years, or it could be packaged as a huge expiring in trade for a big name player.
If it happens, and I recently saw CJ say that HE thinks it will... I just hope it's BROOKLYN. Strangely enough, I think it would also be better than Miami for Dame because he would remain the ALPHA-DOG if he joined the Nets, whereas he'd be 2nd fiddle for the first time ever if he choose Miami... Hypothetically of course.

I think it's important within the context of that quote to add the first part of the sentence:
of the frame of it clearly being from Miami trying to put a good spin on missing out on Beal.
That isn't to say Dame won't ask out if we use and keep the pick, but I think a lot of people are taking it the wrong way.

For the record: If we do pick with #3, I hope it's Amen and not Scoot or Miller. Amen / Simons / Sharpe would be a nice trio for the future.

That would be a big mistake for the Hornets board for one thinks, Amen is closer to Michael kidd
Gilchrist than a star player. They would know since they saw MKG for 7 seasons

Well looks like me thinking that Miami was one of the few teams that could field a good offer for Dame and still have a competitive team was dead on. The Heat are trying to work it so they are the #1 team that Lillard might go to if he indeed wants a trade.
I can see many trades working for both sides unless Miami starts to get very cheap.

We don't have an offer yet I just theorized what I felt was a decent trade offer, if picks were coming this way. The big thing is if Dame asks for a trade though I have a feeling the Blazers will not trade Dame otherwise.
Return to Portland Trail Blazers
