I have to disagree with this. I think there are around 15 PGs who are undisputably better than CP3 is right now.

was it his 42/32/50 for 12 ppg in the playoffs that swayed you to CP3 being better than Beal

I know we were never gonna get what we could have gotten 3 years ago when we should have traded him, but Jesus this is a shocking return. The ghost of Ernie lives on.

Taking Chris Paul's age, his motivation level to come to losing organization, and Washington's lack of cache all into consideration; this is terrible.

Looks like we're not going to keep Chris Paul, but if we did keep him we would have traded Brad for a much better player. Even now, at 38, CP3 is one of the best PGs in the league & among the top 20-25 players in the league. Even now, at 38, IOW, he's way way way better than Brad.

IOW, had it been a straight up trade, Bradley Beal for Chris Paul, there would have been no reason to complain. But, it wasn't a straight up trade. We also got Landry Shamet.

OTOH, we are losing Jordan Goodwin, which I don't like. Yet, we are getting some number of R2 picks, & we should certainly hope to get enough & more out of those picks to compensate for Goodwin.

But, it appears we are not going to keep Chris Paul but instead will move him to the Clippers. They don't have their own R1 pick this year, but they do have the #30 from the Bucks, & they have the #48 as well. Let's see what transpires.

But, if nothing happens, if it's just Beal & Goodwin out as against CP3, some R2 pics, & Shamet in, even in that case we just got significantly better.

Apparently also getting 6 2nd round picks!

yeah. the "future."
the bottom...

who knows? maybe they have something up their sleeve with Porzingas. But if down is up, this world has lost its mind...

What would you have done?

Not sure. Maybe the new guys are playing 3 dimensional chess and I don't see the board.
BUT. considering we didn't get a single 1st rounder out of this I'm not sure what they hurry is on making a trade before the draft. If the goal is simply to GIVE Beal and his contract away, why not wait? see what the start of the season brings and maybe get more back from a contender at before the trade deadline.
I'll wait. maybe they flip Paul for something in the upcoming draft --- NOT a second rounder.
Maybe they have some play in mind with Porzingas. maybe they think they can get something of value out of a sign and trade with Kuz.
but hell, it doesn't appear right now that I define value they way they do.
Stripping it down to the studs will smart for fans...

Source on that? I saw the tweet where he stated that Phoenix has 6 2nd round picks available, did he confirm that all of those were included?

Grunfeld said. "A lot of times what happens, when you wait on situations, the other team might get better offers along the way. Then the trade might go away. We felt good about this."

The new regime wanted to clear the deck before draft night, I get that, they were crippled by Tommy's contract

I fully understand the hate for this trade due to the lack of assets received but the purpose was to rebuild and get away from the Beal which was accomplished. The NTC doesn't help either.

Now I read we gave away Goody as well. JFC. That young man will turn out to be very good.

I'm okay with the trade insofar as it gets that abomination of a contract off our books. If there's any truth to the rumor that Beal is trying to pinch Goodwin from us, too, then he's dead to me and I'm glad he's gone. Good riddance. Paul will probably be moved soon, too. I hope so.

I don't understand why people would rather be a treadmill team than take this trade. The Wiz had to rebuild and I don't think many would have taken this Beal contract.
