At the end of the day these players genuinely have to want to be in Miami to want to help this team win a championship. Not have several teams they want to choose frm who their team will pick in the end cos they have the better assets. This is why i nvr entertained Beal. He nvr truly wanted to be here in spite of the many pitches we’ve had w/ him. I’m sure if Beal pushed his way here we wld’ve found a middle point w/ negotiations & Woj wld’ve reported Beal to Miami. So who gives a flying f*ck about Beal.
Miami are operating in a way that’s also beneficial to our future, unlike a lot of these organisations who continue to make horrible decisions & nvr have a hope. Phoenix will soon find out the mistake they made. There’s still a lot of future in this current team regardless of Butlers window.
I wanna see how this offseason pans out but im not clamouring for whales or star players that genuinely do not want to be here. I want an Olidipo/Love type that wants to be a part of this organization.
Everything you wrote seems so wrong when one thinks about it. We are not in a position of power here, players and the team are a 50/50 split if not more power to the player. Thats a dynamic that your post seems to miss. Players go to a team to win, to win a championship for themselves, what ever team that might be is a secondary thing, not a primary thing. When Shaq came here, was it because he only wanted to win a ring with us or he just wanted to win a ring. The same with Lebron and Bosh.
The idea that a player wants to come here and help this team win is so full of entitlement and again misses the fundamental point that it's the players in charge. Maybe this fundamental misunderstanding of the situation explains why we constantly lose out on Whales.
It's not what player X can do for the Heat, it's what can the Heat do for player X, thats how you land a Whale. Again the real power is on the player which some won't like but thats reality, if one is trying to recruit Whales one has to fundamentally understand that, if not it's going to be pointless endeavor.
Comically and ironically one of the best ways to recruit, to get a whale like Dame is by having Beal on the team in the first place.
That way you show the whale you are serious about winning. You show you will pay the tax, you show you will do your best to make sure you win.You throw some skin in the game.
You show that the team will do its part to make sure Dame has a great opportunity to win a ring. You make the team as attractive as possible for the whale. We got Lebron because Wade and Bosh signed first. The Warriors got KD because they were a 79-3 team. The Nets got KD because they got Kyrie with him together. Sun got KD because Booker and Paul where there. Beal went to the Suns because Book and KD are there. They didnt go because the only want to win a ring for the Sun lol. I think we can all see a recurring theme here. If we were ever serious about getting Dame, we would have gotten Beal first, taxes be dammed.
Not all players are like that. Oladipo & Butler came here irrespective of who was here. Jimmy came here when we had nobody & single handedly turned this team around. There are players who have the guts that want to be in an environment like Miami. The KD's, Beals were never Heat material. Giannis stayed loyal to Bucks & can't knock him.
W/ KD & Beal it wasn't the issue of Miami not having the star players they could play with as they were willing to come here...it was the matter of other teams providing better assets, otherwise we'd have 1 of those players. Had any of them pushed to be here they'd be in Heat jerseys - that's my point...players are gonna want to be here to get something done as their teams are the ones inevitably choosing where they go. Has zero to do w/ entitlement.
Besides, If making 3 ECF's, winning 2 ECF's, making 2 NBA Finals in 4yrs isn't enough to entice players to play here then it says more about them than it does us. We provided our biggest advertisement & pitch when we not only won vs Bucks, but then Boston to take the ECF & then play in the NBA finals. If players don't realise we're just ONE star player away from winning it all & don't have the heart & not up for the challenge then these p*ssies aren't the players we want.
So f*ck a super-star/whale....if need be let's build & address our holes using solid, lesser named players & fill our team w/ as many hungry dogs & go to war w/ these money chasing p*ssies.
