The finale to Demon Slayer S3 was breathtaking. How Studio ufotable manages to capture all of Demon Slayer's emotionally driven strengths while making the fights from the manga 100000x even better/more intense will never stop amazing me.

Next Up: Hashira Training Arc (no release date). If you saw the last 15 mins of today's finale, you'll get the hint that the series is in the end game now

Lol you really binged man. I lost a day to Father’s Day but I’m gonna make it.

Lol whoever called out that formula for demon’s slayer got it right. There’s always a fight by a certain episode.

I binged, but not by choice, I've been stuck in my house since Friday with Covid.

Want my prediction for season 4?

All hell will break loose by the end of Episode 4. :) bookmark this.

Also, happy belated Father's day!

This is my first season watching Demon Slayer, where I felt there were pacing issues. The chase through the woods and Tokito's bubble trap both really dragged. Even Haganezuka's devotion to swordsmithing felt a little longer than it had to be.

The battles are always long and drawn out, but they're action-packed and exciting. So I never felt pacing problems with the previous seasons. This time, I'd have preferred less episodes and better-timed cliffhangers than extended scenes between the action.

The Water trap scene needed better execution, that took me right out of the moment. I know that the studio has a high level of respect for the source material, but that did not work out well for television at all and it dragged the plot down when viewers are clearly more interested in Tanjiro and Nezuko's dilemma

Speaking of dilemmas, the scene where Tanjiro had to decide between saving the villagers and Nezuko. That was masterfully done. They literally put us in Tanjiro's shoes to make us question what to do right along side him. In the end, Tanjiro gives the most agonizing, human response a character could give ("I don't know what to do!") in that situation, and Nezuko gives him the push in the right direction to do his job. Powerful moment. Even though i knew what was going to happen, it hit me hard.

Also, I liked that the anime staff added the extra scene with Tanjiro leaving the village and being thanked by the people he saved. It ties back to Rengoku fighting to the death to make sure that no one on the Infinity Train died, and putting his faith in Tanjiro and the boys to keep his spirit going. He did that sh*t.

Yeah, the finale was fantastic.

Spoiler:
I kinda wish I didn't know the Nezuko moment, because I know that hit like a sack of bricks to anime-only watchers. The flashback was really well-done.

I loved that blindfold removal bit. Also Genya and Tokito acknowledging Tanjiro was perfect. Genya with the smile and Tokito with the gratitude in a new tone.

The season finales have been money so far. I'm not sure it's fair to compare anything to Vinland Saga, because that was beyond a payoff. That was 47 episodes and 16 in-anime years of building into Thorfinn finally having something good happen  .

Um....is it just me, or does the pacing seems kind of off since the battle ended?

Very disorienting IMO. I wasn't even sure public safety was behind the kidnappings, but they stated it like it's just common knowledge.

You should not be allowed to do the water trap when it's been used on Kakashi

With a season 2 announcement, I finally jumped into my backlog and gave the Saga of Tanya the Evil a shot. I went in completely blind and it wound up hitting me with one of the best isekai premises that I've seen...

A cutthroat CEO in modern day gets pushed in front of a train (truck-kun loses for a change). As he falls toward doom, the God of Reincarnation reaches out to the CEO. But the power-crazed sociopath smarts off. So the God of Reincarnation claps back by sending Sociopath CEO into an antiquated world, not too different from our own...it's just got magic, and CEO-psycho has been placed into the body of a little orphan girl.

So what does a CEO-nutjob trapped in the body of a little girl do? He decides to master magic, join the army, and becomes an elite platoon leader by his tenth birthday. He's basically aiding the military in a genocidal World War 1 equivalent just to spite God (who is throwing obstacles and conflicts in the way as it all transpires btw).

And that's how we get Tanya. The child soldier feared by her peers, and known by enemies as the Devil of the Rhine. The style of battles combines magic, flight, and old-school CoD guns. The plot mixes a bunch of military strategy with philosophical debates about God and humanity, all while really cool battle scenes unfold. Then you throw in the comedy of a ten-year-old girl speaking with generals and leading troops because she has the mind of a ruthless modern-day CEO; it's a strange formula that slaps!

I don't know how I slept on this for so long. I also don't get why more manga/anime haven't straight ripped off the combat from this. Now I'm really hype to see how 5 years in animation advancement can improve on an already great series.

That's legit the one scene I'd show anyone if i was trying to get someone into it. Seeing an 8 year old girl just unload an entire clip on someone like that without context is enough to draw further interest
