Chet has a similar frame and he didn't even make it past summer league. I think I read a report the Spurs will not play him in summer league. That is very odd.

Guess who else we've got on that island:

https://deanondraft.substack.com/p/how-should-elite-prospects-with-atypical

Before this season Dean was setting himself up to be the anti-Wemby troll in this draft cycle, but Wemby's season was too bulletproof so he pivoted to Scoot pretty early.

Speaking of his anti-Scoot stuff, he recently seemed to say that the reason Brandon Miller's halfcourt efficiency numbers were so low is because the data was being tracking by people who were biased against Miller...

I aggregated some data from Barlowe write up on prospects layup %. Miller is definitely lower, (check Miller Thread) but a lot more respectable than this chart above. So maybe Dean isn't way off his rocker. Hard to know.

I'm sure any tracking stats from any source are going to have mistakes and not always be 100% accurate, but the idea that there were people at synergy intentionally tanking his numbers when they tracked him because they had a bias against him is absurd.

Should we be concerned MJ taking his last gamble on Zion?

I'm gonna be real pissed if we spent this entire draft cycle yelling at each other just for them to trade for Zion or Ingram

lmao I know right.

Just going off the rumor it seems we favor Ingram over Zion if we had a choice.

This tells me the rumors of us favoring Brandon Miller at #2 also makes sense which is why they would want Ingram over Zion.

Going to be a crazy 3 days I expect a lot more rumors start floating around the closer we get to the draft.

I think my order of preference for the potential scenarios being discussed are:

Scoot > Zion > Ingram > Miller

I think Scoot and Zion are almost 1a and 1b for me. I know Zion has his problems and all that, but man... Just imagine if he were to get his act together and managed to stay on the court going forward. I know it may not be likely and that's why I'd still *ever so slightly* probably prefer just to keep the pick and draft Scoot, but man... Zion.

Zion has played a total of 114 games in his 4 year career.

He has a weight provision in a contract that is paying him roughly $40mil in each of the next 4 years.

He's being dragged through social media for being a dumbass.

Is Charlotte the only team in the league who would be willing to take that on?

ALSO: Does him being on a rookie max extension mean Melo couldn't get one as well?

Ingram hasn't played more than 62 games in the 6 years since his rookie season.

He has two years left (roughly $35mil per) on his deal before becoming an UFA.

Neither Ingram or Zion feels like a home run get atm, but factoring Ingram being a bolt risk in 2 years, I feel choosing Zion would be the better choice
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

It's weird we keeping the Miller/Scoot workouts private. Damn at least show the fans some highlights of the workout smh.

This team still living in the old era. This a new era everone wants to see highlight videos on social media.

Why is Miller above gg Jackson. I've been looking a ton of tape and I don't think Miller is better.

I'm not saying draft Jackson at 2. I want Scoot. But combine our picks or something and make sure we get him would be perfect for this draft.

We traded 13th last year because we had too many young players. No chance we're bringing in 4-5 rookies.

As far as I know we have 3 two-way roster spots available.

Sam Vecenie's latest mock has us taking

27 Keyonte George
34 James Nnaji ( Julian Phillips goes one pick later at 35)
39 GG Jackson
41 Sidy Cissoko

That is a pretty talented group of prospects

I've talked up Nnaji before, but why does Vecenie think we'd want him with Mark around? Draft and stash maybe?

EDIT: Forgot this man-child's only 18. :o

Except that Miller does almost everything better? If any player looks soft, it's Jackson.

As said earlier, I am VERY WARY of dealing for Zion. Big men with weight issues, coupled with early injury issues, rarely put both of those aside for great careers. Seriously, name me some examples of those who overcame both to be really great. Barkley had his weight issues but no ongoing injuries until late career. Some bigs got serious and into good shape, but they weren’t on the shelf as much as Zion for their first four years either.

Need I recall Sean McMay?

High risk demands high compensation. I would absolutely insist on getting the 14th pick, Trey Murphy III, and a future pick in 2025. Send them the 2, Bouk and Hayward. Use the 14 or trade up using 14 and 27 to get the best PG available. Is that Anthony Black? His shot isn’t so good but his size and defense would help our backcourt. Is that Bufkin?

With Zion do you re-sign PJ? For the right $ yes. If so then is this a playoff or even conference winning team?

Melo, Black, DSJ
Murphy III, Rozier (or trade Rozier for different SG)
Miles, Cody, draft pick
Zion, PJ, Thor
Williams, Richards, Kai
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

a draft and stash could be handy. especially a young big athlete who can work on his skills on Europe.

rumblings that the team is leaning Scoot after doing due diligence on Miller beyond the incident that everybody talks about.
