I'd trade LaMelo and pick Scoot at two.

You mean for salary purposes or just in general you think we’re completely gutted?

If your boy Bam does get the help he needs to win a championship, he should request a trade. Do you agree with that?
You should avoid this.
Why? I don't mean it in a derogatory way. Bam is his second favorite player. Anyway, if Pat Riley cannot put a good team around Jimmy a Bam, then Bam should request a trade. He is entering his peak.

I think the fundamental flaw in Dame asking out is that he won't just pick the Heat. He will never say just trade me only to the Heat. That means it will be a bidding war, from the teams he puts on his list. Our assets can easily be trumped. Thats when reality of this situation hits.

Not sure salary wise, but from a standpoint of having to entice Portland to accept out offer. Whatever Portland wants, they will get.

It may be a bit more complicated then that.
Shams says different. I guess it depends on who you choose to believe. I'll go with Shams who has a better track record than Barry

Thinking a corporation will do an employee a solid is an excellent way to get long bowed. They will never do you a solid unless you have an insider (Suns/Beal's agent). Besides that, Brooklyn is on his list. They drop 5 1sts (Mind you they have 11 Total) and already Pat Riley becomes distant background noise in the ears of Portland. Next Guy after Dame the Knicks have like 7-10 picks, the next guy after that..... you get my point.

We aren’t getting Lillard simple as that

Hmmm not necessarily. Miami had KZ Okpala 2nd on their board behind Tyler Herro in the 2019 draft. It's very possible they could have taken KZ with that pick had Herro been selected earlier, lol.

Bill Simmons said on his pod today that he thinks Zion is as good as gone this week. Pelicans don't want to move Ingram. Bill pretty in the know of nba dealing. Knicks have a ton of assets, ton. And sending an all star like Randle plus picks and a young player or two to play with ingram and McCollum... you improve now (based on zion never playing for them) and you improve for the future if you get frp's and a dude like quickley or toppin or whoever else. I think this has real smoke to it.
Knicks want to move on from Randle and have the assets to get just about anyone.

That would be an awful deal for the Pelicans....they must be at wit's end with Zion, who was considered generational talent just a couple years ago. Now they fine with Julius Randle and middle of the pack future firsts.

Yup.
Only shot that we have is if Dame specifically mentions to Portland that he wants to play for Miami and no one else. They may honor his wish if the package is attractive enough.
That being said, players often specify a list of team's (as opposed to a single team) when forcing their way out.. and in that case if the list of team's includes Brooklyn and/or NY we may basically be toast.

Personally, I would love to see the Knicks exhaust their assets on Zion.

why would anyone want Zion?
he's injury prone. i wouldnt even want to rely on him if you gave him to me for free, i would still plan to have someone that we can rely on because id expect zion to get injured

Unless they can trade up to #2, or somehow Charlotte is dumb enough to pass on Scoot and he falls to 3, I think Blazers try to build a contender for Dame.
So, here's to hoping Charlotte **** it up.

I still believe KP makes a lot of sense, if the health checks are green. He provides size next to Bam. He provides spacing on the perimeter. He provides rebounding and paint protection. More importantly, he's a scorer that get can his own in the half court.
With KP on the roster, we'd have four (4) players on our team that can score over 20ppg - Butler, Bam, Herro, and KP himself. He fills the much need void offensively.
