Draymond Green
If we strike out on Grant, what about Draymond? The exit of Bob Myers might mean they're going to stop printing money in Golden State.
He could be a veteran leader. He knows how to win. He could back up at center and PF. I know 3 years, $75m is a lot for a backup, but we are talking about paying Grant.
Maybe what the Magic are looking for this summer is a tough guy that they can mix in the lineups. It looked like we were bullied at times last season. Mo got knocked out with no repercussions.
Someone said recently that they saw Draymond at a Dr Phillips Publix supermarket.

Draymond has spent his career helping players get open looks. He could probably help direct them where they need to be.MasterGMer wrote:I worry about our 3 point shooting

1 - what do you mean if we strike out on Grant? what Grant are we trying for? Im out of the loop
2 - Draymond works with GSW, im not sure he works with other teams. And i would not like the example and culture he would bring.
edit: nm, I see the Grant mentioned. Still, not a fan of Draymond.

Re: Draymond Green
Grant Williams, sorry. Someone was talking about us offering him $20m per year . Draymond is still better than Grant Williams.tiderulz wrote:basketballRob wrote:If we strike out on Grant, what about Draymond? The exit of Bob Myers might mean they're going to stop printing money in Golden State.

Re: Draymond Green
If he wants to come here and work hard, if he wants to become that defensive anchor to our team, why not? But I am worried about our team's spacing with him on the floor. Paolo is not a good 3 point shooter. Franz is average. Suggs is below average and Markelle Fultz is a question mark. Adding him to our lineup will definitely dilute our 3 point FG%. Plus I don't think he is Okay being a backup here. I do not want him to be a backup either. I want him to start

Grant Williams is going to get a big contract and not start. JI doesn't start and makes $17m. Theoretically, we could part ways with Isaac, and Green would fill in as a veteran leader and really only cost aroundMasterGMer wrote:If he wants to come here and work hard, if he wants to become that defensive anchor to our team, why not? $8m more than Isaac.
I'm sure that Draymond would hold his teammates to a high standard.

I like his defensive tenacity. He is always hustling. But tbh, i don't see him being a backup and that is the problem here. Franz is starting at 3 and Paolo at 4. Wendell is our starting C.

Re: Draymond Green
He could back up both. Draymond, playing 25 to 30 mpg, will make us better.MasterGMer wrote:What position is Draymond gonna play for Magic? SF/PF?

If this team wants to be built on the concept of defense, we need Draymond and imo we need Suggs to be the starting 2. This defense capability will make us a playoff team alone. But has a defensive oriented team won a championship in recent memory? IMO we still need elite offense to win

Re: Draymond Green
Comical concept that Draymond will walk away from perennial contender GSW for opportunity to BACK UP
young guys on a team that eked out just 34 wins...maybe he'd ponder that for $40m/year and sit out every other game, while plotting his escape to LAL.
I don't think he's going anywhere unless GSW flat out insults him with an offer...then he goes to LAL out of spite

He would.
BUT, if Green signs with the magic, it's to get his biggest payday and retire. We wouldn't get the GS Green, we'd get a lesser version.
He'd be choosing not to play for championships.

There isn't a lot of money out there for Draymond if the Warriors don't re-sign him.

Re: Draymond Green
Sorry but id rather draft Jarace Walker than sign draymond
Same player except one is young, cheap, better shooter and has tons more potential
But honestly id only go this route if hes there at 11 (or we trade up from 11) since i want Ausar at 3 or trade up for scoot, anything else at 6 would be disappointing to me
