Damn. Yam playing some good basketball.

Read on Twitter

All of these clips are offense, though. I'm curious how he has been doing on defense.

What I do know for sure is this. While Davison has more long term upside, Madar is probably more likely to be able to step in to the Pritchard role of "deep bench PG" this upcoming season, if Pritchard is dealt because:

-Madar is a couple years older. And look at the video above. Madar is playing in front of a packed house, a hostile environment. He's facing competition that is better than the G league (where JD has been playing), Yam is playing higher stakes games in more of a hostile environment. So Yam is probably more likely to hold up well under the pressure of playing meaningful NBA minutes

-In this type of role, we just need a deep bench guard to come in every now and then and keep the ship afloat. Just don't make mistakes, don't do anything stupid, hit open 3's, move the ball to the open man and don't get killed too bad on defense. Madar is less turnover prone, he's a much better shooter and they're comparable defensively.

If Pritchard is dealt, we might finally see Yam on the C's (with JD staying on a 2-way for 1 more year).

Dante Exum sighting!
As for Yam vs JD like ten minutes of SL practice will tell the FO what they need to know. I’d go with the bigger body, but who knows? Both show promise in terms of actually running offense.

Averaging 2.5+ steals/game in 26 minutes in whatever tourney this is so far. Also with a 5/1 A:T ratio (though his 3PT shooting has slumped).

According to Himmelsbach, neither Madar nor Begarin will be playing Summer league this year.

I’d personally be surprised. I don’t think he wanted to come over on a two way in the past but I know he does very much want to be in the NBA so maybe if that’s the only way, we’ll see it happen.

At the very least we’ll always have the first summer league game where he looked really good.

Not for two-way. He has a better spot in Europe if he doesn't make an NBA roster
If we move Pritchard he can come as a replacement
He played really well last year and was instrumental in Partizan's championship
Obradovic, who is a strict and demanding coach, assigned him to guard the other teams' best guards. This speaks volume of the advancement he made

I think Madar would surprise a lot of people if he came to the US but there's no way he's leaving a F4 Euroleague team with that amount of exposure, PT and quality level to come to play for the freaking Maine Claws.
Either we send Pritchard packing (which I would much rather prefer tbh) or he's staying in Partizan.
This might be BOS last chance, he's turning 23 this December and next offseason might be too late to get him to properly adapt to the NBA after many years in EUR.
Make no mistake, Madar is good though and it sucks he wasn't drafted and developed by another team who could guarantee him PT in the NBA because he'd for sure be in his second contract already.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

It would be great for him to get to play with and against real NBA players for a month. And yeah, he's not staying over, if he does come, unless he's got a shot for the real roster.

Yeah, JD has starter potential. I’m very excited about him but like with PP, it’ll likely happen elsewhere as vets are thoroughly blocking either from ever getting minutes and that won’t change for at least two more years barring major injuries
Davison is 20, not 25. Big difference.

Pritchard is most likely a rotation player, who at least will get playing time somewhere else.

I too see JD as having starter--and good starter--potential. I wouldn't mind JD as a starter and Yammikins as his backup in 2-3 years, but I doubt that will happen.

Fenerbahce eyeing EuroLeague Rising Star Yam Madar

The Israeli point guard has become a target for Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce, while the NBA market remains also an opportunity for him

Orazio Cauchi. 2023 July 11 11:00

Conversations have been ongoing between the player's representative and the Celtics, sources have told BasketNews, so the NBA option remains on the table for Madar.

German side Bayern Munich had also expressed interest in the player but has now moved on from him, with deals lined up to acquire Carsen Edwards
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

I believe Yam Mader would be eligible for a 2nd round pick contract like Walsh signed for. Salary of $1,119,563 this year. A vet minimum salary will count $2,019,706. Seems lie a small difference, but that $900,143 could be the difference between over or under 2nd apron.

White / Brogdon / Mader
Brown / Pritchard / Banton
Tatum / Hauser / Walsh
Porzingis / Brissett / Griffin (re-signed)
RWilliams / Horford / Kornet

(Champagnie waived)

By my calcs, our team salary there would be $179,790,062. That's $3,003,938 below the 2nd apron. If moved Pritchard we could use the Grant TPE in full for the last spot and stay under the 2nd apron.

There are $1,946,431 of unlikely to be earned incentives not being counted here though. So possible they'd want to budget room for that.

Thank you, Fenerbahce, if you're the prod to get the C's to bring Yammy over.

Davison is obviously still a ways from being NBA ready (Brad and Joe, what sort of development got the poor guy to backslide like this?) and Yam could very likely decently handle the 3rd-string PG role this year.

Welcome, if you make it over here, Mr. Madar!

PS Carsen Edwards to play in Munich? Brad may have him back here coaching in a year or two!

Madar isn't gonna come over here to just ride on the bench. Overseas he can be a regular rotation player getting 20+ MPG, possibly even starting. And he'd probably make more $ overseas, too - especially since NBA salaries are before taxes are taken out and European salaries are after taxes are taken out.

Only way I see hm coming over is if Pritchard is dealt. Then there would be a somewhat realistic path for him to actually get some minutes.

Also, there's no sense in having 2 guys on the same team who are undersized guards, good shooters but not very good at anything else, questionable defenders..

Brad seems to prefer having guys on the team with size - he seems to prefer wings over undersized guards. I would think Champagnie makes the team over Madar - especially if Pritchard is still here - and especially since Champagnie has more familiarity with our team, the stuff we run, with NBA competition, etc.

I'm guessing Brad still trades Brogdon, but if Yammy isn't up for competing for time with Pritchard, we don't really need him over here anyway: Trade him for one more 2nd.

And I think Pritchard is probably a better defender than Brogdon at this point.

I would think if we trade Brogdon, we would backfill that spot by acquiring a different guard who's better than Pritchard. I doubt Brad goes into the season with Pritchard/Banton/Madar as the only guards off the bench.

BUT if that does happen (Brogdon gets traded and no other guard is acquired) then yeah, I'm sure Madar would probably come over, if the Celtics are interested in signing him (or having him compete for a roster spot in training camp).

You're probably right, but it could be a washed up vet like Wall that Yam ought to be up for competing with as well.
