Masai wants a quality backup for Fred so he is fresh for the playoffs play-in.

What to me should be the nail in the coffin of Masai pondering "IF" we should do the deal is if you don't do the deal...

Tell me which 2 of what would be the top 3 teams in the East are the Raptors going through?! Can you imagine how soul crushing the next 3-4 years would be?!?? Just getting bent over by those teams year after year.

We're not beating MIA with Dame/Butler/Adebayo, Giannis/Jrue/Lopez or Brown/Tatum and a laundry list of good players. The franchise would literally be accepting being mediocre for years to come because your ceiling is the 2nd rd (period), that's not the least bit exciting vs pull the trigger on a Scoot deal...you'll have one of the most exciting young duos in the East (if you can include OG & get Shaedon, trios in the league) and "just making the Playoffs" is an entirely different vibe because THEN you could say "gaining Playoff experience" is important.

The whole vibe/feeling of making the Playoffs with a young core would be an entirely different experience/excitement. Running back and making the Playoffs isn't the least bit exciting because you know that's the LIMIT. With young guys, even if they lose to the Beasts of the East, they'd see/truly experience the level they need to be at in order to compete. Everybody would feel hype feeling like when those top 3 teams fade (minus Tatum/Brown) it would be our core's time and we'd have such an EXCITING young duo/trio throughout the process waiting for them to eventually break through, not just a frustrating one that you know will never break through.

If Scoot is there & POR will take Siakam, this trade MUST happen or -- the only minor saving grace would be flipping OG for a really good young prospect(s) (ie/ Murphy/Daniels or 7th, 16, 20 whatever), running it back would be a complete failure and just a clear money grab knowing damn well this team isn't going to get through the top teams for years.

Scoot isn't "nothing" and it's evident by the amount of teams trying to get up there in the draft to get him.

LaVine isn't even in the discussion to be able to get 3rd pick, get it?! So that pick is worth a heck of alot more than just random "multiple 1sts" -- teams with multiple 1sts are trying to use them to get up there to get Scoot...again, you understand that right?!

Don't let MLSE brainwash you to believe that without including more that it's not a fair price, it's arguable that we're just about meeting the criteria to get such a pick.

I bet Portland and Raps are playing chicken over who gives up the most to get a deal done between Sharpe, OG, Siakam, and who ever else they each want or don't want to give up. Also, whether or not the player Raps want is actually there at 3

my guess is that the raps would do Siakam for Scoot + salary matching straight up

problem is Scoot won’t be there at #3. so Raps will need Sharpe too if the pick is Miller

now we get all the rumours that Scoot will be there at #3, that Charlotte has decided on Miller already yet nobody is sure where that rumour came from..lol, nah, only Miller will be there for Portland, and is Miller really worth 2x all NBA Siakam (who is also a proven #2 on a championship team)?? or if not enough value is in that deal, should Masai keep Siakam and pursue an OG deal with Indiana instead?

a deal will be made on draft night, but whether it’s an OG deal or a Siakam deal could depend on whether Portland is willing to give up Sharpe

problem for Portland is that everyone knows that no deal for #3 = Dame gone

lol, they can’t sit there and act like they are sitting comfortable satisfied with holding onto that pick…no deal, and Portland gotta change course of the franchise for good

and it’s not like they rebuilding with a surefire star in Scoot…only Miller will be available at #3, and a rebuild with pieces like Sharpe + Miller, while promising, will still take EXTRA long…gotta add way more to that core over many years to be competitive
