Isaiah Todd discussion and news

Post#1 » by Saberestar » Mon Jun 19, 2023 5:59 pm

Todd is more of a long-term project than Goodwin. He was a consensus five-star recruit out of high school. Went the G League Ignite route with the draft.

Like Goodwin, he has a team option for 2024-25.

Great job by the Suns to get more contracts in with this trade.

Comically bad in this video. (stiff who throws air balls in summary)

Not sure he deserves a thread.

His numbers stink but based off that YouTube clip he has great size and a good looking stroke from 3.

His problem seems to be he doesn't do anything at an NBA level right now. He's an NBA level athlete and physical measurements but skill wise, nothing is NBA level.

But Daddy Ishbia wanted him, so he MUST be good.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

I'm not sure why he was even included in the trade unless JJ somehow has some insight that we don't?

If we wanted a big that can't hit three's I'm sure there are better prospects available?

He wasn't good for the Wiz and they knew that so they wanted us to take on his salary. Just happened to work out for us because he cost less than the vet min. I don't think anyone, maybe GOK, expects him to get any real playing time

Well, he has a guaranteed contract for next year and he is just 21 years old.

I don't expect too much from him but at least he is a young PF with some upside.

He actually doesn't look that bad IMO. His shot wasn't falling, and because it wasn't falling he tried to drive, but it's obvious so he got blocked or got a charge on em. He's got some decent ball-handling skills for his size, it depends how much he wants it. Hopefully he takes the off-season seriously and puts in some work. Suns could use any kind of depth, so the opportunity is there.

I honestly don't care about him getting real playing time seeing as we're " All in" and trying to win a championship here and he's far removed from being able to impact a game legitimately. I'm more interested in seeing what untapped potential we might glean from a much better developmental environment for him with our now top notch coaching staff and incredible mentoring potential of Durant, Booker, Beal on what it takes to become a great player in this league.

I think the bulk of his concerns are mostly development related and can ge overcome to offer great value at some point down the road. Which isn't terrible at all considering we have ZERO assets and will have almost no wiggle room for upgrades whatsoever the next 4-5 years. 7 yrs without any draft assets at all nearly too. These minimal risk upside swings will be critical for us and our long term competitive sustainability.

He has talent but he won't help us this year so doubt we'd keep him with so many bigs on the roster already. Unless we're planning on moving away from Landale, Bismack, Bazley, which I would not do.

Do it. Why are you asking for permission? Considering you been making none stop threads on the GB.
