My one question mark is how much difference the #3rd pick is worth from the 6th pick. I feel like there's not THAT big a difference (once Scoot is gone at #2, that 3rd tier of draftees is pretty big), but maybe things will become more clear on draft night.

I wanted to slap bigfoot for trading LaMelo initially but his core is older and being able to commit to competing whilst having the 3rd pick to start the future (or trade again) is a nice spot to be in.

Ahh you misread the picks

pretty sure Im reading it right. You receive #3 Perkins receives #6?

edit: wait according to the lotto results bigfoot was #7.

I thought bigfoot received the 3rd round, not 3rd overall. In other words, Perkins has 2 first round picks in the upcoming draft: #3 and #6

Yeah, if he got AD, Siakam and the #3 overall pick, that's too much, even for LaMelo and the #7. But a 3rd roujnder is decent value. Probably end up getting a more useful vet for his team now when it is going for it than he'd want to take at 3 anyway (James Jones philosophy).

Does the lottery also decide on the order for all rounds after the 1st round?

ie do I own #24 in the 2nd?

Man... Booker is going to take a hit playing with Beal for his overall stats. I imagine his %'s will likely go up though.

I will say... I am pretty thrilled to have Poole... oh and Avdija ;)

Theres a reason I had avdija rostered more than anyone this past 3 years starting with trading for him way back in his rookie year. same with okongwu. yall lucky af we only get 8 keepers. Ive had too many times where I know Im letting go of a guy who is good but I have no choice. The boat is too damn small.

Why don't you do consolidation trades? That would be the smarter move I'd think as opposed to dropping a dude outright...

Its not always possible to get real value.

Also I dont feel maybe this is the right way to put it, if Im being brutally honest sometimes I think maybe Im a little bit ahead in terms of picking up good players (who aren't necessarily producers currently) and so other owners wont value them as much because they dont feel they are actually good. Like I really did try to move players like Okongwu, Avdija etc., but they weren't on other peoples radars even though they were already good players who just needed minutes.

Like for example, Okongwu was actually the 8TH KEEPER (over a draft pick) for me going into last year - but I couldn't trade him for any value because not a lot of people thought he was actually good. And when it became clear he couldn't stay on my team because I was competing, I was basically SOL and had to get him off the team for better players who were producing right now. And then Capela got injured which you can't predict and now other managers were like "oh, now I see Okongwu".

You nailed the Jaylin Williams pick for sure. I always think you can find a move as opposed to dropping dudes. I kinda thought you were gonna Godfather an offer to 1 of the other basement dwellers at the deadline last year.

In hindsight some people are probably kicking themselves if I proposed an offer with Okongwu or Avdija as an additional piece or for a future pick (I'm sure I did both these multiple times), but I'm also not that good at proposing initial offers so it could totally be a scenario where my trade package is actually garbage.

Some of those deals kind of came out of nowhere for me. I didn't receive any proposals featuring any of the star players who were moved and thats fair enough if nobody wanted any of the players on my team. But I do get a lot of negotiations where people are asking for my "prospects" and said "prospect" is early 20s and producing already nearly as much as the guy I'm targeting in a trade, rather than the actual prospects ala Okongwu/Avdija/Porter.

So it goes both ways. Usually by the time a player is actually a known productive quantity with staying power in dynasty their window for buying is already shut. So you have to know which players are actually good at real life basketball and get them before they appear on the radar. Sometimes it backfires spectacularly when you end up in a scenario where you have to waive someone and you waive the wrong guy (yeah in hindsight I'd never waive Okongwu obviously), but I think more often than not it works out long term.

Josh Lloyd will be covering the draft live by the way, although of course the video will be available on his channel any time
