I have no problem with the small dudes who are just a bucket.

I think the PPGZzzz meme has fallen off here substantially. Thank God.

yeah maaaaybe the style but williams in his entire career never sniffed the volume and efficiency simons got just last year at age 23.

lou is like simons lite. if you said it that way it would make more sense

It wasn't consistent, but Lou definitely hit that level and then some here and there. At age 30 he was at 28/5 per 36 on the Lakers with a TS% of 61%. He was at 27/7 per 36 with the Clippers at 32 years old too on a lower 55.4% TS%. For comparison, Simons was at 22ish and 5ish the last two years per 36 on 58% TS% (but as I noted in an earlier post, was significantly better both in terms of volume and efficiency when Lillard was out).

i meant more like as a 3 pt gunner. simons pulled 9.1 3s last year per/36 at 38%. lous year with the lakers did get up there that year but never really again. his efficency that year on ts% was a weird outlier where is ft rate was waaaay higher for some reason than any other time.

but ft rate breaks down the comparison anyway because lou got to the line alot and simons hardly ever does. i think we could do better than lou williams if we thought about it.

If I remember right, Lou was one of the guys that really weaponized pulling up for jumpers as he went around screens in a way that forced the trailing defender to foul him and the league eventually stepped in and got a lot stricter on that thankfully.

Simons or Sexton.

What undersized scoring SG with limited/no PG skills are you taking?

as it relates to 3pt rate, efficiency, free throw rate, passing ability, size, defense, general overall game impact.... i think the best comp for simons is tyler freaking herro. their numbers match up very nicely along with their general nba street cred id say as well

Sexton. He’s got more 2 way potential than Simons

Yeah there was kind of a overcorrection with how guys like this are viewed after probably being overvalued in the 00s.

A guy who can go get their own shot is absolutely useful especially in a microwave off the bench kind of role.

His scoring numbers look excellent. His assist/turnover ratio is worrying for a guard. Can he be a playmaker or is he just a scorer who doesn’t make our other guys better?

Been on the Sexton train for a while. He'd be perfect, not too crazy expensive, and tons of room to grow. He'd be playing with much much better players, could be our Maxey. His numbers have greatly improved under better coaching with Hardy.

he has a path to being an elite player because he is a true psychopath. I would welcome Sexton on this team next to Giannis. I think he would push GIannis

Simons is better but Sexton is probably far more attainable for us and I’d gladly take either.

Since all things are not equal, I'll take Coby White from this small gunner bucket.

From the undersized no defense two guards (Sexton, Simons, Poole) I very much prefer the last two. Both Simons and Poole operate in more vacant spaces the way the roster is currently constructed. Both of them have actually showed some semblance of orchestrating an offense and quite honestly I think their ceilings are higher because you can disguise either as a scoring first one guard (or either might actually develop into one) where their size is not that detrimental.
Simons is cheaper than Poole and is a bit further along at being a positive impact player, but should also be significantly harder to acquire. Sexton I don’t like unless we’re talking Grayson only or if we get significant value back for including Bobby.

His contract makes zero sense for us, but I would also add Jordan Poole to this pool of potential buy low gunners. Don't think he makes sense for us given his contract, but I think he could make a lot of sense for Washington for example as a buy low gamble given the numbers he was putting up when Steph was out and the perception that Golden State will need to attach value to get off his deal.

As players:

Quickley > Simons > Poole > White > Sexton

Considering likely cost to acquire:

Quickley > White > Sexton > Simons > Poole

ETA: there's a line in there somewhere demarcating where I'd rather just get a pick and take like Sensabaugh if all we're looking for is a bucket

I personally think we don't need a bucket, we need a facilitator who can get us organized such that we can get our already existing scorers the ball in favorable situations instead of making them do everything themselves.

The latter.

Sexton needs to improve greatly to contribute to a championship-level team.

Pass for me, unless he comes really cheap.

When this team folds under pressure early in the 4th quarter and we need a bucket who can go get one?
Or will this ongoing occurrence go away now that Bud is gone and offensive guru Stotts(who's never won anything) is here.
