Re: Miami Heat Offseason Thread 3.0: Dame Time
Whatever happens I am a big fan of running it back, this go around lets try it with Jovic at the PF from day 1 and let him mature. Lowry finally in his true role coming off the bench. Caleb Martin continue to get better coming in as our 6th man. Herro and Bam improvements. We just need to solidify our bench, resign K Love, he was instrumental for us in those playoffs. Get rid of Zeller for sure, and let Struss go elswhere. Resign Vincent as our starting PG, we should expect improvements from him. Also Heismith and Bouyu should be getting some bench minutes. We just need to find another veteran Bigman who can be positive during the minutes Bam isn't on the court. Let Jimmy coast during the season and keep him fresh for the playoffs. Duncan also looks to be getting back into form, spam some DHO's for him during the season get him going.
Reroll, I love our chances.....expecting great things this upcoming season. Do not lose any assets, the new CBA is brutal for teams like Miami we will need all our picks to get cheap good young blood on our roster, outside of undrafted which our program should continue to pump out. This year draft Jett Howard, and keep it moving bro's.

And with all those assets, the Heat could easily flip them into star(s) to pair with Jimmy to stay in win now mode.
But that's just in a vacuum and without context. No way the Blazers actually would do it first of all. Secondly, I can't see the FO taking that huge of a risk after an incredible playoff run and finals appearance. If it doesn't turn out well, how do you justify it to the fanbase? Yeah, I think its all nonsense.
Disagree, Trading Bam for assets to trade for a superstar makes no sense. Don't think there's any asset we could acquire that would be worth more than Bam anyways so if we were ok with this deal why not shop Bam now for a superstar? and the only guys that would make sense are Jokic and Giannis and those guys are not available.
I don't view bam as untradeable but if the goal is to build a contender now there's not a lot of scenarios of you getting value back to do so.
We're not shopping Bam for a superstar because no one would give us a superstar for Bam alone. Even when we were talking about KD last year, it was Bam+Herro. We are only discussing this bc of the rumors coming out about the Blazers aggressively looking to acquire Bam, and supposedly willing to give up a lot to do it.
As far as trading those assets to stay in win now mode with Jimmy, I was more talking about stars than superstars. Someone mentioned getting Zion with the pick. You can then maybe flip the other assets for a Siakam type. Or you keep Scoot and move the other assets. It would just give us a lot of options that we don't have now.
But again, the Portland thing is one big smoke screen and would never happen. But if it were actually on the table, its worth considering.

I expect improvements from Bam and Herro, but I'm not sold on anything else. I'm also not necessarily sold on how big the jumps in improvement will be for those guys to keep us in contention with the bare bones around them.
I really think we need to move on from both Strus and Gabe, both for cap and upgrade reasons. Like come on. They are decent players and would be PERFECT depth in bench roles in limited minutes. But are we seriously comfortable with them having to be huge contributors to our success? I am not.
Its just we're in cap hell, so we may have no other choice.

According to DusterBuster, Portland Muppet “Marang” is reporting that Scoot wants to land in Nola and there’s a three-team deal in the works:
#2 pick to Nola
#3 pick plus other assets to Charlotte
Zion to Portland

#2 pick to Nola
#3 pick plus other assets to Charlotte

Micic (2 time Eurleague MVP) is in OKC currently the OKC thunder have his draft rights but they have SGA/Giddy at the point Heat should be all over it to get a cheapish sixth man/border line starter at the PG. He's a biggish PG and is in his prime atm 29/30 and has heaps of experience in big games/carrying a team in big moments. Unlike past Euroleague PG's coming over later he's athletic/strong enough to play in the NBA.
https://thunderousintentions.com/2023/06/19/okc-thunder-secret-weapon-offseason/
While the Thunder own his right, they can pawn him off in a trade as a sweetener to get the deal done. According to reports of his agents demands, Micic wants 6-7 million dollars, a starting role (or starting-level minutes), and to play on a contending team.
Micic has dominated for Anadolu Efes Istanbul, ranking in the 83rd percentile in spot-up offense, 88th percentile in overall offense, 90th percentile in the half-court offense, a jaw-dropping 97th percentile as a pick-and-roll ball handler (1.167 points per possession), 95th percentile when coming off hand-offs. He even shoots 45 percent as a catch-and-shoot option.
I don't know anything about Micic, but is there a potential opening here for OKC and Miami to figure something mutually beneficial out?
If OKC wants draft compensation--can this be an opportunity for Miami to send over Oladipo's expiring + pick 18, get Micic back on a $6-7M deal, and get OKC's hold on the future FRP removed + pick #37
IDK just brainstorming here.

Re: Miami Heat Offseason Thread 3.0: Dame Time
For anyone to think Riley would even entertain trading Bam after the run we had is pretty wild to me.
In a vacuum that trade would be good value if we weren't in a position where we have Jimmy and are competing for championships and have been the last 4yrs.
I do find it interesting though that Portland are coming to Miami, the team that will seemingly be first in line to trade for Dame if they don't get a deal done to upgrade their roster and specifically want Bam.
Feel like to me this tells me.
1. Things aren't going well on the upgrade the roster to satisfy Dame front.
2. Dame really wants to play with Bam/Miami if it doesn't work out in POR.
3. However, this story coming out about Blazers offering a similar package to us for our cornerstone player basically to say if you wouldn't do it why would we likely means they would be reluctant to accept any offer from us for Dame.
Hopefully, the Blazers are just at the denial stage of grief and come to their senses and realise they were the 5th worst team last year, haven't been competitive in years and their star is 33/34yo and not 26yo.

Re: Miami Heat Offseason Thread 3.0: Dame Time
I dont think Portland would give up simons and the third pick, and future firsts for Bam. Honestly its a massive overpay by them if they did.. but say they do offer that.. theres absolutely no way you turn that down.
Ive said it here since back before the tournament began, Miller is going to be the best player out of this draft. Bank on it. Hes been clear of wrongdoing. I saw him go in a hostile college environment in Ole Miss, everyone calling him all kinds of names, murderer, lock him up, some N words here and there.. and he hit the game tying bucket to OT and the game winning shot.
In that game alone he showed me something about his character, how he locked in, that mamba mentality people talk about, that you havent seen from the other top prospects. Hes the next.
So while i dont think any trade happens, hypothetically speaking if we didnt reach the playoffs because chicago held their lead, and portland came with that trade to us. Many people here will be on board.
I dont think the trade happens though, i doubt Portland is offering such an overpay for Bam. And id only consider the trade if it was an overpay like the one mentioned simons, 3rd pick and two future firsts.

The priced paid by #18 is twice higher than losing Duncan. It was a bad signing for sure, don't lose out on a valuable asset, whom could become a very good player for Miami because your trying to shed Duncan's salary. Just play Duncan in his role until he expires, live with your decisions, and work around them.

Re: Miami Heat Offseason Thread 3.0: Dame Time
No one is going to take Robinson without picks, just gonna have to live with him being our back up 2/3. I'd love to see Martin starting at the 2. Herro needs to be traded for a point guard or power forward. It's not realistic to expect Jovic to go from garbage time player to starter. He'll probably be the back up 4. We have way too much money being spent on overpaid perimeter players and not enough on true bigs. I'd just be happy to see Lowry, Dipo, and Herro gone for rotation players in their natural positions that balance the roster and cap.
