Well I think because Jock is an early-bird RFA, the Suns are limited in their offer to him. Best they could pay him would be $10.15M this upcoming season with decent raises for each year after. So is he worth $8M per year? Probably. He's the type of center the Suns need. Smart, rebounds well, blocks more shots than DA, plays better defense than DA, and unfraid to take a three pointer. I'm a big Jock guy and that's absolutely an overpay. I mean outside of energy and hustle, he's not exactly a skilled player worthy of TPMLE money. His QO is like just over $2m, we got him for literal cash considerations and there's no way he did enough to earn himself $8m a year. If someone offers him that money (like Dallas did with McGee lol) then you say thank you for your contribution, go get your bag son

He is OK as a backup but Baynes was probably the best backup C in the entire NBA for a couple seasons. Landale hasn't shown that he can be that good and he isn’t a prospect or anything like that. At times we couldn't play him over Biyombo because his defense was meh and offensively isn't good enough.

Regarding salaries to have available in future trades I would prefer to give a bigger contract to Craig. He got $5M last year and he deserves at least that money per year in his new contract.
I can get behind of $16M/2 years for Craig and we would have that contract in the bucket for a future trade if needed.

I wasn't advocating $10M for Jock. Just saying that was the max offer that could be made by the Suns. But yes I would match a three year $24M offer. That will be a cheap, tradeable contract over the next three seasons. You have to consider the average pay for a player last year was $9M, he would be under that.

For sure Craig is a player that needs to come back. But I would not let Landale slip away if a team offered him that contract. He showed what type of player he could be in the playoff games against Denver at home where he was instrumental in the two wins. He was good both offensively and defensively. I would rather see Landale over Ayton any day of the week. My hope is DA gets turned into two more quality players plus some future picks. Some GM will be stupid enough to do that and then regret it a few years later.

For sure Craig is a player that needs to come back. But I would not let Landale slip away if a team offered him that contract.
