the only thing that bothers me about this kid is how tall and thin he is. kd has a similar build and has been relatively healthy, but he's not nearly as tall. dudes center of gravity is too high. but other than that, he is the real deal

The hype for this guy has me thinking he is gunna come into the league and drop 50/20/10 with 5 blocks a game as a rookie...
I feel like no matter what he does ill be disappointed...
I personally have never seen so much hype for a guy since ive been watching....
He does look really good tho...like one of those nba2k hacked characters...
Will be interesting to see how he does... Everyone is going to be watching the spurs this year lol.
IDK what stats to reasonably expect for this guy ha.

Luka was drafted as a proven winner, refined player, who was able to compete at the highest level.
Wemby is a player who chose not play at the highest level, so all you have is assumptions.
I'm personally not sure about his decision not to keep playing at the Euroleague (in the previous year he played he was non-factor). I cannot deny the possibility that he just doesn't have the mental ability that true great athletes have.
I hope I am wrong...
It doesn't matter what he did in Europe, because the people who make the draft decisions don't understand Europe anyway, hence Luka didn't go #1 even though he was the most obvious #1 since Lebron.
Wemby's team came to America for exhibition games to show off their prospect, Luka's team didn't, that's what made the difference and none of it matters anyway. What matters is how much butt he can kick in the future, and in that regard he is in the same tier as Luka.

Come on those are exaggerated numbers. i think peak hype is rookie LeBron numbers, with emphasis on defensive stats and less assists. He's going to get there methinks, or somewhere near it (especially if he's load managed by the master load managers Spurs)/
If there is no basketball in heaven, i am not going.

Anyone know why Windhorst got assigned to Wemby?
LeBron to Wemby. What a good run of luck.

JJ’s usually great but he was really eating it with the Inception stuff. Wemby wouldn’t let him fail, though. Kid’s a winner.

yeah, I watched this short interview earlier and was like wtf on the inception stuff
with that said, watching this interview (and others) my main takeway is that as big as the gap is on the court, between Wemby as a prospect to other contemperary prospects and young or even young-ish (Ja, Zio etc.) from the states, imo the gap off the court is just as big
Wemby is exteremely well-spoken,intelligent, level headed and mature for a guy his age and especially compared to his American counterparts. just light years ahead tbh, a real high charachter player - Spurs should consider themselves very lucky

Baseball is just not a thing in Europe. I don't think I've ever thrown a baseball in my life. Probably wouldn't do much better than Wemby.

His parents teaching him how to run properly since he was small was so smart, he’s giving himself his best shot at being durable. Steve Nash is huge proponent of this idea, or he was anyway, and Steph re-teaching himself how to run in his 20s to relieve some type of stress overload he was putting on his ankles changed the course of his career. Every kid should be taught how to walk and run, if each step is a rep then people are doing thousands of reps in poor form every day. Not going to end well. Zion needs to learn how to walk/run asap.

Tony Parker, I think, also learned to run on the Spurs.
Actually, most kids have flawless running form. So, it's technically relearning that's needed, rather than learning.
PS For anyone interested in changing their own form, I highly recommend the book Chi Running.

Victor is certainly an exciting prospect.
What we have seen in the past is that skinny giants don't last in the NBA if you play them at power forward or center and try and force them into situations where they have to bang with guys like Jokic, Embiid, & Giannis. What makes Wemba special is he has the skill set to take on a Kevin Durant position and i think he can stay healthy if he plays this style of basketball.

Wemby watched Pistol Pete videos. Why other players don't is just insane. Players need to focus more on ball handling.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

I don't care how we do this season, as long as he grows and develops accordingly, build a nice roster around him and grow for the future. Personally, Luka was a Euroleague MVP, Final 4 MVP and all the accolades going into the draft, whereas Victor has yet (i believe) to even play in the Euroleague. Lets hold our horses
Wemby already played in the EuroLeague, at age 18.
His numbers were:
34.8% Field Goal %
37.3% 2 Point Field Goal %
30.3% 3 Point Field Goal %
66.7% Free Throw %
6.5 Points Per Game
3.8 Rebounds Per Game
0.5 Assists Per Game
0.4 Steals Per Game
1.9 Blocks Per Game
1.3 Turnovers Per Game

he may be a disappointment to NBA fans but we Spurs fans already love him and will support him no matter what.
no one appreciated our other stars and we don't really care. we are here to beat everyone and win titles, not to get espn airtime. that is for the big city teams.
