Zach Lowe is saying Portland has pushed away any offers so far for the #3 and want stronger offers. He also says he feels like Portland wants to try to use the pick and keep Lillard up to the trade deadline to see if he'll be ok with team that they've put around him.

All the Turner trade rumors were before Indiana re-signed him, and when they were in pursuit of Ayton. Now they have him on a good deal.
Part of me thinks they extended him last season exactly for that reason. They couldn’t get anyone to bite on his expiring because of what it would lead to over the summer. No one was offering a 1st or anything of value. They bloated his pay last season and have extended him over the next 2 on a good deal. Teams will be more willing to give something of value now.
He’s been in trade rumors, has even campaigned for other teams to trade for him himself, and think he’s ready to try and win.
The Lakers were offering unprotected pics to get him in the Westbrook trade....
Indy said no. Other teams were offering picks. They could have easily traded him if they wanted to. They wanted to keep him not trade him, thats why they extended him with the cap space so he gets a huge pay bump and then its 20 mil for the rest of the deal so they can be under the cap and get better. They wanted to trade one of Sabots or Turner to keep the other one since they both didnt work out when both on the court and both were best at center.
You can cite sources that the Lakers 100% offered multiple 1sts and other teams were offering 1sts as well for his expiring deal? From what I remember they were saying Indy wasn’t getting good offers for him because of his contract situation

Looks like Philly may still be a possible top 4 playoff team in the East.

Dame said in an interview about a month or so ago I think with Stephen A that moves needed to be made this summer one way or another and it was no waiting until the deadline. I guess we’ll see

The Lakers offered one first not two, Indy wanted two. Then you have the Knicks being rumored to go after him. No he is in demand, the Pacers just want to keep him and build their core. If they wanted to trade him, they had multiple opportunities to do so.

Re: Miami Heat Offseason Thread 3.0: Dame Time
What's crazy is a hyper realistic 3 team trade between Portland, Hornets, and Pels that easily gets this done and everyone goes home happy
Pels trade
C Jonas Valenciunas (expiring) to Portland
PF Zion Williamson to Portland
get
The number 2 pick from Hornets and select PG Scott Henderson
C Jusuf Nurkic
SF Gordon Hayward(expiring)
Blazers trade
C Jusuf Nurkic to Pels
SF Nassir Little to Charlotte
SG Anfernee Simons to Charlotte
Rights to number 3 pick to Charlotte
get
PF Zion Williamson from Pels
C Jonas Valencuinas from Pels
Hornets trade
SF Gordon Hayward to Pels
Rights to number 2 pick to New Orleans
get
Rights to number 3 pick from Blazers and select SF Brandon Miller
SG Anfernee Simons
SF Nassir Little

Portland is forcing Dame's hand. They want their cake and to eat it, too.
Bodes well for a potential trade to happen. It doesn't bode well for Portland being willing to accept a lesser offer just because it's Dame's preferred destination.
Another offseason with Brooklyn being a pain in our a**

This is what he's getting the vibe of talking to Portland people, they don't have to trade Lillard even if he asks out, they could say we will trade you by X if you don't like this. Of course, Portland is going to want to keep Lillard and may try to push for him to stay because they can always trade him later.

Your source doesn’t say that they offered 1 first and every trade mentioned in there was for Turner AND Buddy not just Turner. Rob was willing to offer 1 first for both but not just one of them.

Don’t see Portland holding him hostage if he wants out and I definitely think they’ll trade him to his preferred choice if it comes to it like we just saw with KD

Dame can definitely get Portland fans to turn the narrative against the FO. But, will he?

Yeah that’s how trades work….you know better. They were trading Westbrook and his 40+ million expiring. You need to match the salaries. They won’t trade him unless it’s a lopsided offer, basically with what we want to offer for him they hang up the phone laughing.
If they ultimately wanted to trade him, they would have made the last two years of his deal bigger as expiring not substantially lower.

Dame still a pipe dream. Go after Zion, hope like hell he puts down the hamburgers, and call it a day.

KD went to "one" of his preferred choices between Heat and Suns but Suns had the best offer hands down for him. It just took a while for the Suns to finally buckle with the offer. BK in this situation now locked and loaded with everything they got from the Suns now have the best offer for Dame if and when that time comes so any thought of him coming to the Heat because he has us as one of his "preferred destinations" become an exercise in futility. You were consistently pushing Tyler Herro and picks last year for Durant when we didn't even have close to matching the Suns last year when they offered Bridges, Cam Johnson, and also a boat load of picks.
Now you think that Herro, picks, and some corpses are going to work for Dame? Not happening when BK can offer useful expiring players who can actually play along with 5 picks no restrictions or hoops to climb like trying to coax OKC to drop protections. Unlike an offer including Lowry who will most likely sit until bought out, a huge contract in Duncan, and another useless player in Oladipo. If all we're banking on is "Dame preferred destination Miami" our offer is still not going to cut it for them in order to perceivably what you think is doing right by him but not right for there organization.

So you agree that they never got good offers for just Turners expiring then right lol? That’s what I was saying the whole time, you could argue buddy is worth a 1st himself.
Why would they make his deal bigger and harder to trade if they really wanted to trade him?

To be fair, unbiased reports always had Suns as option 1. They had a better offer, though.

KD worked with the nets at the deadline to exclusively get him to Phoenix, Miami wasn’t an option. He wanted Phoenix.
We can come up with 5-6 1sts pretty easily. That’s more than enough for a 33 year old asking out on a questionable contract while helping him get to his preferred team.

It's not like players under contract can just get up and leave. They don't have to ask him anything. Portland purchased his rights at a very steep price.
