I’ve wondered the same thing. Melo may bolt this place for a big market anyway, but we’d better understand fully how he’s approaching all this. We NEED an alpha leader here, as Melo is really more of a kid hooping for big money and fun. Scoot will demand other players push and dedicate themselves to winning…maybe not immediately but once he’s in command. Can Melo deal with that?
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Despite Mitch stating that it's his decision or his and Michael's decision, one would expect the new ownership group to have consulted Lamelo about the idea, wouldn't you? It wouldn't be very sensible for a brand-new ownership group to draft a player in the same position as their franchise player without even picking up the phone. However, maybe that's too high of an expectation to have from the Hornets.

Brandon Miller said Paul George is his GOAT of basketball.

Should we trade for Paul George and let him groom Miller to be the GOAT of basketball? :D

Saw that. Hope he isn't serious.

The amount of people who actually care about what he said is nuts lol. The guy asked the question like an idiot for one.

I just took it as his favorite player is Paul George.

I mean PG is one of the smoothest players in the era. His level of influence is a bit underrated.

I believe he meant it as "His GOAT," as in the person he models his game after. However, it's true that he could improve in front of a microphone, just like many other guys entering the league.

They'd be dumb not to considering they're about to give him a max contract to hopefully be the long-term face of the franchise

I hope Miller aspires to play defense like PG. PG is top 5 wing defender and the rare player elite on both ends.

Random question for the board. Let's just say the Hornets ended up drafting 5th this year, in the spot where we were more likely to land. Let's say wendy, miller, scoot, and amen are all off the board.

Who would be the guy you are fighting for us to draft?
Cam
Ausar
Black
Jarace
Who else?

If you were considering fit, who would be the best fit for our roster?

I honestly stopped looking into the other guys after we got #2 so all I can do is fall back on my general board

1. Wemby

2a. Scoot
2b. Miller

4a. Amen
4b. Ausar

5. Black
6. Whitmore
7. Walker

I'd add Cason Wallace. And Taylor Hendricks for PJ/Miles insurance.

He's my favorite player. Still if someone asked me who is the GOAT of basketball im smart enough to know it isn't Paul George lol.

Then again this kid is 20 so I don't know if I would have said something similar at 20.lol

Instead, we have everyone trying to decipher every quote to say "oh they are taking him, or oh if that is true shouldn't they be taking him instead?...

The amount of conviction some fans have for 1 guy over the guy ranked 1 spot lower is kind of nuts. Heck many boards have him #2 and people still are up in arms. Just wild to me.

Jaden Ivey, Jabari Smith were both guys fans were diehard to go #1 last year and neither even made 1st team NBA.
Nobody had Haliburton as a top 5 pick a few years ago, there were people on our board who wanted Wiseman so bad they would of traded 3 and Bridges for him...Plenty of people had both Ball and Fultz ahead of Tatum... So many people were die hard Hezonja fans heading into the draft... I mean 100s of examples that don't even have anything to do with Hornets where people were just flat wrong.

Everything always looks so obvious when you look back on it, but it almost never is.

I mean, we also have plenty of examples of the Hornets making decisions that were flat out wrong as well, which probably factors a helluva lot more into why people are worried/concerned here than what some other random team did years ago. And having lived through most of these decisions, while there are times where fans want one player and they don't end up working out, that almost always coincides with the team picking another player and them still not working out, soooo yeah.

Factor all that in with the fact that Scoot has been the consensus #2 behind Wembanyama for at least a year now (and the only reason he has been replaced by Miller in a few cases is because of our particular interest in him), teams are talking about trading up to draft Scoot and no one (?) is doing the same to trade up and draft Miller, etc., I can see why fans are nervous that we are going to screw this up as we have so many times in previous drafts.

Dean doesn't like Jalen at all.

JHS is essentially an extremely poor man’s Cade Cunningham, and is getting overhyped for fitting an ideal mold instead of actually being good at basketball.

I've been thinking if the Blazers would take LaMelo for 3. Or a three team trade where the Blazers get George, Brown or OG + Siakam and we get 3 and the third team gets LaMelo. As much as I love LaMelo, I worry about the injury history and I think we can rebound just fine with both Scoot and Miller, Miles, Washington, Williams starting 5
