I don't think Dick can play the 2 spot...too big, too slow...so, Hawkins or a trade for a shooter.

If it's close...why draft the one who'll be stuck behind Franz?

I’m kind of sick of that one. Making the ball go in the orange ring is kind of fundamental. Particularly from 22 feet away.

What is the best case outcome for Jordan Hawkins? Is it better than Gary Trent? Or better yet Josh Hart or Austin Reaves or DiVincenzo or Malik Beasley or Seth Curry?

Would we be better off just paying one of the guys above as a free agent, several of those who actually are more than just a shooter?

That question goes for Gradey Dick too...I think he can do more than shoot, but i am not sure either. At least we know what we are getting with the free agents above. I mean Seth Curry is one of the best three point shooters of all time(43.5% career), and he doesnt do anything else, and he has never stuck with a team and he has never gotten more than $8M a year he is getting paid now.

Why not just sign one of the best shooters of all time to make some shots for our guys?

Not to mention we’ve already got Garry Harris on the team who’s an elite shooter just on lower volume than people would like.

The one thing the bodes well for Hawkins is he is constantly on the move. Like JJ or Boston/Miami Ray Allen or Ross, he is just always moving and finding space. I think those smarts alone will benefit the players. And with less responsibility(he had a 25% USG) he should have more energy for defense.

The other thing is, we might not have enough on-ball-time for two rookies who need the ball in their hands to operate. Ie, say we drafted Black and Wallace, neither will get full on touches unless Cole goes and even then they’ll be splitting touches. At least with Hawkins he has a defined role of making shots and he’s shown he can do that all the way to a championship.

That said, if his shot doesn’t come through it’s a waste of a pick and spot.

BINGO…! A big reason I like Hawkins is he’s a threat without the ball in his hand. He’s also going to make the defense work hard and cause some confusion with switches coming off screens. He’s exactly what we are missing right now, a player to take the eyes off Paolo all the time.

If we don’t take Dick at 6, I’d love Hawkins at 11. Guy can flat stroke and we need that.

Are we going to start Grady and Franz at the same time? I believe they play pretty much the same position don’t they?

Gradey is a guard, maybe can play a little bit of 3 or next to 2 guards . Think the question is either Hawkins or Gradey going to start over Suggs?

I don’t get the comparison between Hawkins and Dick as shooters. They are nothing alike.

Hawkins is 6’5 and runs around off screens and shoots as soon as he catches the ball. He’s solidly a SG with no positional versatility.

Gradey is 6’7 and can create offense on and off the ball. He cuts to the basket and can make plays on the ball.

Those are the biggest differences. Completely different skill sets outside of being able to shoot a basketball.

I like the "idea" of Hawkins upside in the sense that I think he will surprise a lot of people if this kind of play style. Kinda Lillard ish.

Dick is more like a Klay Thompson in that regard. But with a higher floor IMHO. It's just where the ceilings differ.

Either have Garry Harris as their floor. Just a humble opinion.

What do you think about Grady disappearing in games?

I don’t give a ****. He’s the better player.

Ehhhhh I'm not convinced. Anthony Black had to get pulled off Hawkins cause he was getting torched.

A lot of guys had a hard time defending Hawkins.

With Grady you just need to get in his face. He doesn't shoot or make a lot of contested shots. He's not a motion shooter. He's a spot up guy.

Seth Lundy, Penn State is being compared as Hawkins lite. Thoughts on his game?
