Definitely a risk worth taking. If he tanks out, you get that money off the books next year.

All the Gallo talk. I can't see the Celtics doing Gallo dirty like that and dealing him to Washington or the Clippers. They'll use the ham and eggers to fill salary.

Sounds good to me!
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Feels like it's gonna happen with all the names out there and the fact that his opt-in deadline is today.

This deal would make a lot of sense. Swapping Brogdon for KP makes you more expensive this year, but it removes the 22.5 million for Brogdon next year when Jaylen's extension kicks in. KP basically becomes a big expiring, the flexibility to try him for a year then see what happens has some value in itself.

I love KP as a center option soooooo much more than say Ayton. Legit defensive rim protector, floor spacer. Enough of a shooter you can play any two of Horford/KP/Williams allowing you to recapture your defensive identity.

I think KP stays if team wins.

This team will definitely win more than he's ever seen in his life.

The thought of having 2 guys that can actually play off each other in Tatum and KP makes me excited.

BRown goes to playing almost exclusively OFF BALL

Smart and KP and Smart and Rob 2 man game is always very efficient as well.

Guess you were not alive for the Rick Pitino era or the Vin Baker trade. I like Brogdon but Boston desperately needs another big.

Ugh Paul Gaston...other than Kraft, Boston really had some reprehensible owners in the 90s. Jacobs and Gaston...two cheapest Mofos in the history of the City. Remember when Gaston wouldn't allow the Celtics to sign a 12th man because they would cost too much money? Traded for Vin Baker so he could SAVE money. Told Jim O'Brien that he couldn't have Rodney Rodgers back due to I believe a small pay bump that Rodney was going to get. Just friggin awful.

But yeah other than all that I guess Gaston was acceptable

Ya I don't think this really factors into the C's thinking, at all. You're trying to win a championship, and if you add KP and don't trade Horford or Williams then Galo suddenly has a lot less of a role here anyway. I don't think they are worried at mid-level-exception guys feelings.

Anyone else think, that when he is healthy like this past season, KP is a better second option offensively than Brown?

He is more efficient, that is for sure.
and that was as a 2nd and for some time a primary offensive option on a FAR WORSE team.

I think Porzingas becomes the #2a, brown the #2b.

Not sure about 15 mins, but he can definitely give you some competent minutes. He never got much of a shot last year. Can definitely give you some middle innings relief.

Not so much feelings its the fact Gallo can also shoot 3s which this team LOVES.

No, this trade is excitement/anxiety puking. High high high risk, mitigated by the risk with Brogdon’s own health already.

Those trades were obviously bad and stupid and sad and maddening. Don’t forget Shawn Marion lotto pick to upgrade Declerq to Potapenko, or Joe Johnson for Delk and Rodgers.

The pecking order is still

Smart/Tatum/Brown/KP

Smart is the 1st option and its his team. You'd hope that Tatum overtakes him and starts taking the game winning shots at crunch time.

If they some how fix it to Tatum/Brown/KP/Smart then Boston will win this year. Tatum needs to become the guy and make this his team.

Could get good minutes when Al isn't playing back-to-backs, or in situations where one of the bigs goes down for a little time.

Wouldn't be any different this upcoming season. They will send out as much $$ as $$ coming in (Zinger). JB's extension kicks in next season. So re-signing KP could be an issue, but let's not worry about that quite yet :D

Well it will make SOME difference. KP's option is 36 million. Galo+Brogdon is only 29 million. So c's will get more expensive. That matters tax wise to the owners, but team building wise it won't matter this year because Al's contract is dropping from 26 to 9 million so they will still end up below the 2nd apron.

It will be almost literally impossible to re-sign him and stay below the 2nd apron going forward. So maybe its a rental, or they are about to say "screw the 2nd apron."
