It's entirely possible we flip Murray to the Pels in a 3 team deal that sees us land Zion.

Something like this:

Image

Pels need an upgrade at the PG position, Murray slots in nicely!
We might need to add a future first round pick which I wouldn't be opposed to.
Zion is worth it. A generational talent is worth the risk.
In Masai We Trust :meditate:

There will deff be other players coming our way....I think this deal if we do not get the 3rd pick (And thats looking likely no deal with Blazers goes down)....Murray/Siakam Swap makes sense in terms of us trying to stay competitive while adding a guy who fits the team a little better...

In terms of fit Murray with OG/Barnes fits a whole lot better on the court overall and lets Barnes go to his natural position or you play him exactly like you played Siakam where he can bring the ball up sometimes...

OG would get a boost as well opening him up to being way more of a offensive player since FVV/Siakam would be gone...Also Murray is 3 years younger than Siakam so there is that...

If this deal does go through though i predict....Murray/Hunter or Bog/Griffin or 15th pick is going to be the ultimate package Masai will ask for ....Will Hawks do it we shall see...

But on paper imo Murray fits better if FVV is leaving us in FA .

It makes sense after I thought about it, his contract situation is better too, when he becomes a UFA (same time as Siakam) his next contract won’t be as big. He’s also turning 27 this year. 2 years younger than Siakam. So if this experiment doesn’t work he will still have value a couple years from now.

I wildly speculate there are two deals all dependent on Fred giving word on his decision tomorrow.

Fred says he's going. Pascal to Hawks for Murray, Bogdanovic, 15, Kings '24
Fred says he's staying. OG,Otto to Pistons for #5, Bogdanovic. Either way we are getting a Bogdanovic.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Strong pass.

On a 34-win team and on efficiency worse than FVVs

If you hate FVV, you’re gonna DESPISE Murray.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Pistons trade is just not good IMO.

Then trade FVV at the deadline.

This thread should be closed. Most reports suggest that we have a better chance to trade Pascal to Atlanta. The Blazers trade is apparently dead.

I guess it depends on how strongly they feel about someone at 5.

So something like this?

Poeltl-Koloko
Barnes-Achiuwa-OPJ
OG-Hunter
Trent-#15
Murray-#13

assuming we bring back Poeltl. I guess I don't hate it. If we draft 2 guards at #13 and #15 we probably hit on one and have a nice 9 man rotation, oldest player in the rotation (apart from OPJ if healthy) are a 27 year old Poeltl and a 26 year old DeJounte Murray, so we're still in decent shape in 2-3 years if Scottie can become a top 15-20 guy in his 4th/5th year.

Still a treadmill team, but the balance is better. It's funny how whatever move we make, even something as wild as trading OG and Siakam in a 3 way to get Scoot for instance, the thing that arguably matters the most to our team remain Scottie's offensive development and that sort of means his jump shot.
Where's the D?

Let's say the deal for #3 is dead.

Two most plausible Siakam trades so far -

Hawks for Murray + __. Murray is a great defensive player and playmaker with questionable shot efficiency and rumours of attitude problems. He certainly won't provide the all around offensive game that Siakam has, but he will clear the position for Barnes to play exclusively at power / point forward where he belongs which could be what Masai is ultimately looking for. We're still far short of a real first option.

GSW for Poole / Kuminga. You would think that this will almost certainly be available. Is it enough? Poole is a talented young scorer who fell out of favour, is poor defensively and seems like he may be a head case. He's also on a stupidly expensive contract. The real prize here would be Kuminga who may or may not develop into something special depending on how you see him. To me he looks like he could be a shot-creating version of Anunoby, which certainly is a good pick up. But is it enough for taking on the risk/contract with Poole?

Neither of these trades moves the needle for us immediately, but it might be what we settle for if we don't just run it back needlessly for another season.

Murray, Griffin + #15 is fine by me for Siakam.
Would need to be a multi-team deal because no way the Hawks are also including Hunter in there just for salary purposes.

You could then swing for the fences with OG, #13, and #15 for a top lottery talent this year and see if you can nab a potential future 1st option that way, or simply keep all 3 assets.

From Masai’s end of season comments, I got the vibe that he doesn’t think Barnes is ready to be the guy.
