Why for MEM? I get that Ja is suspended, but once he gets back, where does Smart fit? The team need shooting not more defense

Can you imagine if Memphis just decides to reverse their decision on Brooks and just bring him back too. What a defensive nightmare that would be with Smart, Brooks, JJJ and Adams

He also gets to play beside JA and take some play making duties. Imagine chasing ja off of screen, or hitting him in stride off of a curl now, he's too explosive.

We're in desperate need of leadership, which Smart brings. Brooks was just a trash talker that can't back it up. He is a good defender, but Smart fills that void. Scoring is not the Grizzlies problem. It's their attitude, which Smart could potentially help.

Yes he wasn't much of a point guard, and he was still by far their best one. Shows how much they were hurting in that area. Smart was their most willing floor general/distributor and most reliable ballhandler. Now they have zero.

Brogdan is better facilitator than Smart.

Yet their best run was last year without Brogdon, who was supposed to be a steal, make it make sense :lol:

Also Derick White being overrated in here, they have had problem playmaking for years and he was not the solution

First thought is that this is the trade that finally puts the Celtics ahead of everyone in the East and makes them a legitimate champion contender. They got the best player in the trade and obviously improved their roster. Wouldn't be surprised if they would be still playing in June 2024.

Smart-Ja backcourt isn't bad, so they'll play them together especially in the Playoffs. Memphis lost none in this deal and in anticipation of losing Brooks, who's not as half as smart.

Porz adds a huge 3rd scorer to this team that needed it. Porz averaged 23 a game on 50% and 40% from 3.

He will open up room for Brown and Tatum to work underneath which is where they are both the most dangerous.

They are sticking with the Jays and hoping they improve on that end and i think they will, especially Tatum. With a new weapon in Porzingis playing point forward will be easier for both Brown and Tatum. i advocated for trading Brown, but i sort of understand that retooling is not the solution here since they were one game off a back to back Finals appearance. Without that Tatum G7 10 second into the game injury, they would have made it to the championship round.
